You may find my story of how I got my nipples pierced floating around somewhere here but this story is going to be a little different. After having my nipples pierced for approx. three months, I started getting bored with them. I'm not 100% sure what kind of excitement I was hoping for in the first place, but the rush of having my nipples pierced died down VERY FAST. (This is just a note for all the girls out there that want your nipples pierced, it's exciting for about a month, and then you start looking for new things to pierce).
At A Glance Author Irina Contact taurusbabe53@yahoo.com When A week ago Artist some guy(pretty hott one may I add) Studio shooting star Location peabody/danvers-ish MA Between going into Boston and casually dropping in at the Mall, I started checking out various piercing stores and places that generally sold body jewlery. I knew of a piercing shop in my local mall and decided to see if they had anything interesting. At this point I still had hoops in from when I got my nipples pierced. Instead of getting something simple like barbells of some sort, I found nipple shields. Several of them. Stars, weird shapes, snakes, crazy things. I stumbeled upon one that was pretty simple. A nipple shield in the design of little bones and a long barbell. I dropped 16 dollars on it and walked out satisfied. Another month managed to pass until I had a good oppertunity to get the shield put in.
My parents went to California for a week, and me being the idiot that I am, I took my parents car out all week without a license. The one place I knew of was on the way to the mall so I dropped by on a wednesday night. It wasn't very busy. Other than myself, there was another girl hoping to get her nose pierced. I talked to the guy and asked him if he could put the ring in for me. This was supposed to cost me five dollars but I was completely broke. He was cool about it and did it for me anyway. He waited a couple of minutes while disinfecting the ring, asked me where I got my nipples pierced.. yelled at me for getting them done illegaly, and then finally put the ring in. I was ecstatic. He did tell me shields get annoying, but I loved the way it looked.(It did look kind of goofy having only one nipple shield in, and the other left as a ring but I couldn't have cared less). I had showered before I went to get this done so by the time I got home, I did some of my homework and went to bed.
Over-sleeping for school, I woke up at 12 and the minute I woke up, I looked at the ring to make sure everything was okay. Of course to my dismay.. everything looked, in lack of better words, gross. There were crusties EVERYWHERE. I expected some crusties but not as many as I saw. I showered and cleaned the ring up with some disinfectant soap.. the same I used when I had just gotten my nipples pierced. The guy told me that after three days the soreness and weirdness would go away. Did it go away? No. My nipple was no longer sore, but those crusties just insisted on sticking around. I got pretty fed up with the whole thing after a weeks time has passed. I cleaned it so many times that I started experiencing dryness on the areola of my nipple. I took it out that night and left only the barbell in. One huge disadvantage was that the whole shield was imprinted on my areola and was red. This redness did not go away for two or three days. The nipple itself was perfectly fine, but my areola looked like death. I stopped using the soap and after every shower I used body lotion. Even though this lotion was scented, it didn't do any harm to the actual piercing and helped restore my areola back to normal.
Another week has passed since the whole ordeal and it's almost healed. I can still find traces of the imprint of the ring, and there is still some dry skin here and there but it looks a lot better than a week ago. if I could make a recommendation.. if you get nipple shields.. either get ones of good quality, or just don't at all, because you will probably regret it. Also, if you enjoy going to concerts/shows, I wouldn't recommend getting these things put in. I made the mistake of going to Guns up! second to last show in Massachusetts with the ring put freshly in, and it was a very unpleasant feeling when walking by people, or when people got pushed into me. If you do decide to put a shield in, make sure to clean it thoroughly and maybe replace it with another ring after a couple of days to give your nipple some air!
