It's not unusual for me to stop in at Dragon FX because it's on my bus route home. I tend to loiter there for a while before heading home. So, same old, same old I'm at DFX after school. The outstanding difference this time is that I have money.

I was probably there for a half an hour before I even decided what I wanted to do. I ran down my mod-wish list with Charles (iam: Moparnut) and for one reason or another nothing was really working out. The real kicker was that I moved back in with my parents when I started college this year so no new visible piercings while I live in their house.

I was thinking tongue web but my anatomy isn't suited for it. Eventually, the idea came around to get my nipple pierced. It was brilliant. For the longest time I had wanted to get double diagonal nipple piercings (Essentially an "X" on each nipple). We figured I had enough money to do one that day, which was fine. I'd have liked to have done two since I was there anyway but it was a solid start.

Naturally there was the pre piercing formalities. I filled out the forms, presented identification and whatnot. They also give you an aftercare sheet and ask you to fill out a short quiz based on it before going in for the piercing. Personally, I like this idea. It really gets the aftercare information drilled in your head when you have to write it out. It's really not that bad, like four questions.

I went back to the piercing room with Charles and took off my shirt. I laid down on the bed as he prepped the area, sterilizing it with this gunk that was freezing cold. We marked the area and I looked at it in the mirror. I really wanted the placement to be right. If it wasn't it could really mess up the potential placement of the rest of the project. There was a few different lengths of barbells so we held them up to my nipple to see which would be the most appropriate length. I really thought the one that was chosen was going to be to short but in the end it could not have been more perfect. We were pretty confident with the placement so I hopped back up on the back and laid back.

I actually saw the needle this time which was different. It didn't look to intimidating, although I would have thought it would have been longer. It seemed pretty short, three or four inches. I was pretty ready for it at this point. Flat on my back, arms at my sides, I was so excited that I just wanted to get it done.

It seems odd but it may have actually hurt more than I thought it would. I didn't expect it to hurt that bad but the pain really caught me off guard. Charles told me to breathe in, and pierced. It really did hurt! At this point I thought it was over. Unfortunately that was only half way. He had stopped part way to make sure that it exited on the mark we had made. I'm glad that the placement is right but damn...

The second stab was made and the needle was through. It was an exciting thing to see the needle through my nipple and my heart started beating faster. I put my head back down and tried to calm myself down a little. I definitely did not need to pass out.

The jewellery was inserted without any trouble and I laid there for one more minute to slow my heart rate down. I went to the mirror to check it out and was very satisfied with the result. I can't wait to do the rest. I asked Charles if it had bled at all and he told me that it hadn't bled a single drop. That's the kind of thing I like to hear. I haven't to date bled from any professional piercings.

Almost immediately it stopped hurting. It was almost shocking how the pain just ceased. We went back out to the counter and I paid the bill and thanked Charles for his time. I stuck around the studio for a little longer and then headed back out to the bus depot.

That was definitely the least enjoyable part. The bus rides home, and the subsequent ones in the days to come, were not the most pleasant experience. It was pretty bumpy and my bag and my coat kept banging my fresh piercing.

For after care I pretty much just left it alone as I usually tend to. I occasionally broke the crusty bits off with a q-tip and saline solution but generally just let it be. One thing that I believe contributed to the successful healing was that I always wore a t-shirt to sleep, and still do now four weeks later. That way I always woke up with a happy nipple.
