Several years ago my esteemed Mistress observed that She would find it amusing for Her weekly maid to have "his" nipples ringed. Mistress merely mentioned this – She prefers that Her submissives make such decisions on their own, rather than being able to claim that they were "forced" in some manner.

I made an appointment at a piercing and tattoo shop recommended by various chat room conversations, and a few days later found myself explaining to an enthusiastic young receptionist (with multiple facial piercings) that I really DID want my nipples pierced, despite being twice the age of any other customer in the shop. I guessed that Mistress would be most pleased by a "femme" piercing – in this case, 12-gauge ¾" hoops, as opposed to stirrups or a larger (thicker) ring.
The piercing process was very straightforward – Sharon was experienced enough to tease me a bit about my hairless chest, and remarked that my new rings "look very cute" when she finished. The pain of the piercing was certainly enough to get my attention, but was also over almost immediately – bleeding was very slight. All in all, it was a great experience, and much more professional and business-like than I had anticipated.
The initial tenderness was a surprise. As I reported to my Domme, She could have put me in bondage with a few pieces of string for several days. Aftercare with a medicated soap containing Chloroxylenol and frequent rotations was effective and uneventful. Mistress said to NOT suspend any objects from them for several months.
I found that my new rings were not visible through a knit shirt, and they have never been detected by an airport metal detector. I was somewhat surprised to find that no one paid unusual attention to them at motel swimming pools, saunas, gyms, etc. – although strangers often ask about them when no one else is around. The occasional knowing smile, and sometimes a wink, always brightens my day. Within the "scene" they have been as amusing as Mistress predicted. There are times when I would like them to be more noticeable, and wish that I had selected a thicker gauge.
After about three months, I began wearing small bells on them when doing Her household cleaning and chores, and have now graduated to larger (and louder!) ones. Mistress has a devilish sense of humor, and enjoys explaining "what that noise is" when She has unexpected company. That used to only happen when I was vacuuming! After about five months, I could wear a small gold chain between my rings for several hours a day, with various signs and attachments appropriate to the moment. The chain, however, WILL set off a metal detector, as will a pair of even the smallest, luggage-type padlocks.
I will have my nipple piercings enlarged soon, to match more closely the PA I had done a few months ago. Looking back, I would like to have had my nipples pierced earlier, and with a larger gauge. The process was simple enough that I would love to have had it performed as part of a scene or demonstration at a party, with the normal attention to cleanliness. Although Mistress would have known that the piercing of Her bound and gagged submissive was consensual, this would not have been obvious to the onlookers – an enjoyable scene for a mature group, even though a bit politically incorrect these days. My "scene" experiences are exclusively among consenting adults, and "theater" need not be confused with "reality" under such circumstances.
Speaking only for my fellow subs, I know of NO ONE who doesn't play with their nipple rings on a daily basis. For a submissive under chastity control, it can even be considered a reward.
Had I the freedom, or perhaps the courage, I would love to have matching pierced earrings and a septum ring. The septum ring, in particular, would match my PA and truly be a tribute to Mistress L – one of Her female subs (a teacher) wears her large septum ring when serving – it is truly gorgeous, and also seems to put her well on the way to sub space by the time she arrives. For me at present, though, that is just a dream, for the simple reason that I like my job! But yes, I WOULD take a pay cut to be able to be myself at work.
One thing I have learned is that piercings themselves are ornamentation – the emotional significance we give them is intensely personal, and cannot be generalized upon. A piercing I may regard as very "sub" can just as easily be seen on a Domme or Dom – with a very different intent, and a very different message. What some subs refer to as "sissy rings" have a very different meaning to aggressive wearers, or just men and women who enjoy the look.
