Well, I never really thought about getting my nipple pierced as I had read experiences on BME. I was a little put off from the supposed pain factor. But when I asked my 17 year old brother what he would want for his birthday, he said he wanted his nipple done. Well I was fine with paying for that seeing as I had a sheet with the list of common piercings and they're prices ($20), the only problem was he wanted someone to go with him and get theirs done as well. So fine. I said I would do it.

We waited until a day where I had money and my brother was off of work for a few days and then my brother drove us to Tim's shop. (Tim has pierced my rook, industrial, nostril, navel 3x, and my tragus, and done all 5 of my tattoos as well as pierced my brother's eyebrow, done his two tattoos, two tattoos on my mother and my ex boyfriend's first tattoo)

We stopped at the Harvey's near the shop for a bite to eat and to wait and calm down our nerves a bit while Tim finished up a tattoo on another client. At around 2pm we entered the shop. It was clean as normal and we could easily watch him sterilize his equipment and where he stored all his supplies. He had not finished the tattoo on the client, but she asked him if she could take a break anyways so he was able to service us right away.

I paid the $40 for the two piercings, and made my brother go first. I watched as Tim cleaned the area, retrieved the needle and ring (showed it to us pre-packaged together with an indicator that changes to blue to let you know it is sterilized) and changed his gloves. As it happened I watched the whole procedure, calmly knowing that I would be next.

My brother was fine and now it was my turn. Tim asked me if I would like my brother and then boyfriend to leave the shop but I was fine. The woman getting her tattoo and her friend, asked if I would like them to leave as well. I told them it was fine if they stayed. Wow, it's a boob. Big whoop.

Tim then locked the door as I took off my shirt (decided not to wear a bra that day for comfort afterwards)and laid down on the table. He cleaned and marked my left nipple (only wanted the one as two is getting too common), changing his gloves after every step. He then showed me the pre-packaged, sterilized tools, changed his gloves again, and clamped my left nipple. I do not mind clamps and could barely feel them. The needle entered and up kicked my leg. No pain just a reflex. My nipple started feeling a little warm as the blood rushed to it. He inserted the captive bead ring and my leg kicked again. Good thing I did not get him in the face, was close though.

So I had a new adornment. I checked it out. Perfect. I was not fond of the ring but I knew I could deal with it until the wound was healed. He asked me if I would like an aftercare sheet and I just looked at him. He responded with "Right, you know what to do" and told my brother "Any problems, if I'm not in here then call her."

We thanked Tim and left. We lived about a 30 minute drive from him and the whole way my nipple did throb. I think it was because it was not erect anymore. So I peeled off my shirt again, opened the window and was comfortable. Hey we women fought for the right to go topless, so no big deal right? It felt much better. My brother took my lead and did the same as we both got our left nipples done.

It has now been about 3 months and it is doing wonderfully. I was able to change it to a spiked nipple shield about 3 weeks ago and I find that it is much more comfortable for me and I barely notice it unless I see it. It does not catch on anything and sits flat without flipping.

I am so happy I got this done and that Tim did it. Contrary to what others say, he can be nice (mind you he is a bit rude when I come in, saying "Oh dear, what do you want done now?") and he does sterilize his equipment. I have never had a problem with any piercing besides the normal navel, which I had done twice and sadly had to retire. I later had him do the lower rim of my navel and that worked out great. He says it's the best healed he has ever seen. But that is another story for another time.
