First of all, to all you beautiful women out there who have inverted or flat nipples and have any kind of complex about it, getting them pierced could be the very best thing that every happened to you. That is why I am here, to tell you all about my story.

Ever since I can remember, I always wondered why I didn't have nipples. You learned about it in sex-ed in 6th and 7th grade, started having boyfriends in 8th grade, flashed people in 9th grade, have many "girl" friends who have the most perfect nipples in the world. Now, when I say perfect, I mean the kind that stand at attention ALL THE TIME, and just look sexy. I have always been self conscious about my nipples, due to the fact that I thought I didn't have any; that was until one day in 11th grade I started to think that maybe I was not normal. I found out that I really did have nipples, that they were just "hiding". So I played around and popped my nipple out for the first time. WOW, what can I do to keep it this way?

So that is when the mad research started. You can do nipple reconstruction, but you had to be 18 years old and it could cost anywhere from 3000 to 5000 dollars to have the surgery. And it didn't always work. Soon after, I met a very wonderful man who proved that he loved me for who I was and I forgot about my inverted nipples for a few years. In the mean time, I got my tongue pierced, a few tattoos, but still felt the need that something was missing. I am now 22 years old and a co-worker of mine came to work the other day with a very funny look on her face. She asked if I could do all the heavy lifting for her that day, and of course I said it was fine. She then proceeded to tell me that she had gotten her nipples pierced the day before. My blood started to pump and she let me see them. Wow, it was the sexiest and most attractive thing I had ever seen. I then asked why she had done it; inverted nipples...that was her response. I had to try. I had to know if this was the answer to my years of misunderstanding, my years of self-consciousness and confusion.

I have gotten both of my tattoos at a particular shop in Cincy and I wanted to know if they had an experienced piercer that knew how to pierce inverted nipples properly. I did do my research and found that if you don't pierce back far enough, sometimes the nipple will force itself back in, not giving you the result you want. You are also a higher candidate for migration if not pierced properly. I got the answers that I wanted to hear, so I made an appointment for the next day.

I went to the shop after work and for the first time ever doing a body mod, I went alone. My boyfriend at the time did not even know I was doing this...it was for me and no one else. I was very nervous and when I got there, the man at the counter was very friendly. He told me his name was Jeff and that he would be my piercer. We went in the back in a private room where he answered all my questions before we started. Then he explained the entire process before I even took off my jacket. I started to settle down and then the fun began. I undressed and stood stark naked in front of a complete stranger (sort of weird). He then marked two dots on either side of my nipple to and measured to make sure placement was correct. Then he used a Q-tip to tickle my nipple out of its shell (I can't believe it but it really did work) and when he did the clamps came on. Once everything was in place, I laid down on the table. He got the needle and jewelry out of the sterilizer and everything was ready. He told me to take a deep breath in and to breath out hard. On the out part he slid the needle through. It felt like a small fire was lit on my nipple for about a millisecond. Then it was over. The jewelry was inserted and I was pierced; except for the fact that I was only half done. Same process for the second one, except this one didn't hurt nearly as bad. I think I knew what to expect that time, where as the first one I didn't. After all was done, he cleaned me up and I could look in the mirror. I cannot even tell you what it feels like to look in the mirror to see real live nipples staring back at you for the first time ever. It was amazing, and they looked amazing. He gave me aftercare instructions and in 4 days I was completely free of any soreness or discomfort. I still can't sleep on my stomach, but that's ok (I have been pierced for 1 week now). I would not trade my nipple piercings for anything in the world, and I hope that anyone out there who is considering getting it done will just go for it. I really helped boost my confidence and I hope it will boost yours too. If anyone has any questions for me concerning the experience or just wants to talk before going, I am more than willing. Just e-mail me and I will write back.
