My Mods – Problems with my Nipples Healing – My Solution – and a bit of a ramble.

UK I started my Bod - Mods late for my Thirtieth birthday I got my left eyebrow pierced, on my Thirty Fifth my Tongue done, and somewhere between the two my nose pierced. So for my 40th I decided to get a Nipple Pierced, I have been having a full back piece tattoo done over the last 3 years. So I know Chris the piercer pretty well, and Martin the Tattooist at Tribal Nations for 15 years.
Martin offered to pay for the second Nipple if I got them both done together. Even though everyone told me that this one hurt. Now I can't lose face, I had had to talk myself up into this one for a start; being flat nippled I didn't think I could get it done.
My friend no names (Rob) had his nipple pierced felt sick nearly passed out and he was a Para who lost his foot on active service to a landmine. Either I was feeling brave or just stupid or it was the lure of something for nothing I went ahead. Sweat appearing on my brow as Chris marked me up and I eyed up the needle.

It was over and done, I felt it but it wasn't bad, my nose hurt me more. Martin the Tattooist has always told me I have skin like a Rhino. I'm also one of those people that gets that huge adrenaline rush from being tattooed or pierced, its like I'm pissed my mouth goes into overdrive and I've noticed when I'm being tattooed now the CD playing gets turned up louder.
So after a photo for the album, a coffee and a chat, watch Martin hand over his money to Chris, I walked out feeling great with my two new Piercings. A couple of hours later Wow – it felt like I'd been punched in the chest both sides, like a huge bruise was on its way. I didn't get much sleep that night. The problems started. I did everything Im supposed to on the care sheet. (In no way was my experience anything to do with Chris's piercing, the man is a true professional with many years standing in this field and tattooing.)
They would not heal. There was discharge, redness, soreness, and bleeding. Where I had no nipples before they were very prominent and I was suffering permanent joggers nipple as they incessantly rubbed on my clothing, I missed a whole summers Kayaking cos I couldn't wear my diving suit. Now someone less pig headed than me would have given in and removed them but I have always been stubborn.
I was constantly bathing them, used an antiseptic cream I even used Tattoo Goo. I changed from steel bars to rings and back. Nothing helped. I don't know why I was having this reaction none of the other piercings gave me any trouble. Through stubbornness and assured by Martin his played up and took 6 months to heal properly I persevered.
I got on the internet searched yours and any site I could find, then whilst on good old eBay, I saw and eventually bought a coil of PTFE from a tattooist and piercing supplier in the States. This is a non-hypoallergenic compound, (its also marketed as the worlds slipperiest substance) Yep a whole reel of 1.6 gauge PTFE - I got 16ft for less than a tenner. Cheaper than buying two ready made PTFE nipple bars from the UK.
This stuff is great, you can cut it to any length you want and its self threading so you can add what ever you like to it. After adding my own balls to my required length of PTFE and inserting them after a month of normal care my Nipples healed. No more itchy soreness, or discharge. With the inflammation gone I don't get the Joggers nipple, even though I now have a decent pair of prominent nipples. I am now really happy with my piercing and glad I persevered with them.
I have now made up more nipple jewellery, replaced the bar in my tongue and eyebrow with PTFE. So I heartily recommend this stuff. I kept some and gave some to Chris for use in the studio.
As an aside I got the Bod-Mod bug late, and have recently got my ears stretched upto 10mm, now the back piece is done Im starting on full sleeves, one a custom stars piece the other and Alex Binney full Japanese water / wind Sleeve. So the next time you come through Dover Customs, I'm the tattooed modified officer getting shit from management - so come over say hello and show me some support.
Unfortunately after all this I was removing something from my roofbox on holiday without a shirt on, slipped of the door frame and my nipple hit the guttering and half tore out, so im back to waiting for it to heal.
