I waited for it for 2 years, and finally got the chance to do it: getting my left nipple pierced. Since my parents would kick me out of their house if they ever found out that I got a piercing, I decided to wait until I had a room in the city where I study at the moment.

About a month after I turned 18, I'd made an appointment at the piercing shop located in the city where my parents live, Oosterhout. It's called "De Prikwinkel" and I can really recommend it to anyone who lives in the neighbourhood! The people who own the shop are very friendly, funny and capable. It's kind of like a privately-owned shop, because they have a special piercing room in the house they live in. But I'll cut the advertisement crap now and return to the story ;).

I wanted to have my nipple pierced in a shop in Utrecht, but the boyfriend of a good friend of mine recommended De Prikwinkel, and arranged a special price for me: I only had to pay for the material, which was 10 euros! Since the people in Utrecht charged 70 euros for a nipple piercing (which I didn't have at the moment) I decided to give De Prikwinkel a try. After all, the guy who arranged the price for me had had a few piercings there himself, and his girlfriend got a nicely placed and perfectly healed tragus piercing at the same shop.

The only catch was this: the man who was going to pierce me (Christiaan) had never done a nipple piercing before, so I was supposed to be a sort of a lab rat for him ;). When we started chatting it turned out that he had already done 2 similar piercings the same day, so I was already less worried. Moreover, his wife (Yvonne) was there as well, and she supervised the placing of the markings, which was the only thing Christiaan had some difficulties with. Yvonne is the one who started piercing in the shop, and Christiaan then got the taste for it too.

After giving me the details of the "operation" and going through the usual checklist of diseases and special circumstances, with an occasional laugh (the "are you pregnant" question caused a frown on my face and a reply somewhat like: "thaaaank you, I'm not *that* fat, am I?" :P ), he asked me to strip.. Then he disinfected the nipple, and placed the markings. They had to be corrected (I wasn't wholly satisfied with the first and second placing, I'm a perfectionist, luckily in this situation) but eventually he got the OK from me. He then showed me the sealed packages of the barbell, the clamp and the needle, asked me to lay back and clamped off my nipple. Horrible feeling, because he couldn't get the clamp on right (I probably have a very hard nipple or something :P) but the 3rd try he got it right. That looked so weird, having the clamp on my friggin' nipple!

And there came the needle, which was driven through my nipple in 2 pushes. It hurt less than I prepared myself for, which is probably since my left nipple is less sensitive than the right one, the main reason why I only wanted one through the left. I'm still bummed out that I forgot to look, I wanted to know how it looked when the needle was pushed through! I did get to see the plastic tube left behind by the needle sticking through it, which was a terribly weird sight :P. Then Christiaan placed the barbell (1,6 mm, 14 mm long if I recall correctly). That hurt more than the needle! However, I didn't cry out for once (so proud of myself :P) and only said something like: "ouch.. OK that did hurt a little". The friend who was with me didn't dare to look at the whole op, being afraid she would faint. Cute :P. After the barbell was in, I jumped up out of the chair to look at my new piercing, but Yvonne and Christiaan immediately told me to lie back in the chair again, since it could start to bleed, and I might faint from the tension, or something. I never fainted before, and I was sure I wouldn't now (although I was sooooo tired from a party the day preceding that one) but I decided to follow their advice and stayed in the chair for a few moments longer.

Then they gave me a tissue to put in my bra, I put the rest of my clothes on and thanked them heartily for what they did. I wish I left a tip though XD. They were just such nice people!

I had to buy a few new bras since I had so change them every other day so my friend and I went to the mall. During the bike trip to the mall I was holding my boob the entire time, afraid that bumps in the road would cause instant pain XD. Luckily, all went well, and soon I was home, with 2 new bras, sheets of gauze bought at the drugstore, and a big bar of chocolate to celebrate the new addition to my body :D.

The first day everything hurt a little, but after the second I did not feel any pain at all. I now have it for a month, and it's healing fine. I hope it will heal within the minimum amount of time, that is, 3 months, or so said Christiaan. Then I can buy new jewelry, and get the chance to have some fun out of it ;).
