Well, I'll start off by saying that I've had my nippes (yes, both) done before. I removed them because I found that after 9-10 months, they hadn't healed. I should've just left the jewellery in and allowed them to heal, or went back to my piercer and had them checked-up on.
At A Glance Author Lynne Contact Lynny_Burr@hotmail.com When It just happened Studio Robin's Boutique Location Sarnia, Ontario So, I decided I wanted them to be pierced again. They suit me quite well, and my boyfriend likes them.
I made the decision to get them re-pierced a few days in advance, and went to talk to the owner of Robin's to schedule an appropriate time.
I was going to go during a school lunch break. I regret this choice. I sat through my next two classes is moderate pain and discomfort.
Finally, the day came. I showed up a few minutes before they opened, and waited outside for someone to come in.
Now, I've only had them done for one day as I'm writing this, but they're coming along fairly well.
I grabbed my best friend and my boyfriend, entered the boutique, and gave her a few minutes to set up. She called me into the VERY clean area and told me to sit down. She then checked my nipples to see if it was possible to pierce them again. I had an entry hole on each nipple that may have made it difficult, but she had NO problem at all.
She showed me all the tools she'd be using, and explained everything as she went through, opening all the packages in front of me, and putting on the gloves.
If you want to get your nipples pierced, but don't want to expose yourself - don't worry. Your piercer should be very professional about it, and not make you feel uncomfortable in any way. If you feel awkward, leave immediately.
The woman (I didn't ask her name) swabbed my nipples to make sure they were nice and clean, then marked each one where she would pierce.
Previously, I had my piercings performed at a place where the piercer (I found out later), had very little or no experience. I was pierced with two 16ga rings, and they weren't situated properly.
It was made clear to me that I would be pierced with 14ga CBRs (Captive Bead Rings) this time; which is what I wanted the first time I had them done.
She put the clamps on so the marks she'd made earlier were aligned properly, then told me to inhale and exhale. As I was inhaling, she put the needle through. Then, the ring.
The second one hurt more. I don't know why, but it did.
Right after everything was done, she cleaned them up and put a cotton ball over each one so it wouldn't stain my bra/shirt.
I experienced something that hasn't happened for a while - I actually got dizzy, and my ears were ringing. If you need to sit down, tell your piercer, and they should direct you to somewhere you can sit, and keep a good eye on you. If you experience this, sit down for a while. When you feel normal enough to walk again, drink some water. It'll pass eventually.
Now, I don't know if it's because I've had them done before and there was scar tissue - or because I have an ulcer - but they bled quite heavily for about two hours after it was done.
There's a lot of crusted blood, and it hurts to hit them on anything (obviously), but other than that, everything is perfectly fine.
If you're reading this experience for the sole reason to find out if it hurts..Well, obviously it's going to hurt. You're getting two needles shoved through a VERY sensitive area on your body. But, the only way for you to truly find out is to go out there and get it done.
Remember, if you get a piercing, ALWAYS wash your hands before you touch it, or you'll get it infected. Clean it every day with the piercing cleaner the piercer gives you, or buy a bottle of Betadine at Shopper's Drug Mart. DO NOT use Bactine, the spray stuff in a can - it can cause infection! In the shower, use unscented soap, and clean them often.
I wont go into everything you can do, because if your piercer is truly a professional, they should have a nice, handy list containing the do's and don'ts of body modification.
If you think something is wrong with your piercing(s), DON'T be afraid to go back and talk to your piercer. I've always had a problem with this before, but the woman who pierced me at Robin's was very professional about it, and even invited me to come back if I think something is abnormal.
Happy piercing. Getting these done was my 8th piercing - and I'm sure there's many more to come.
