First thing I want to say so this doesn't put anyone else off getting their nipple done is that I seem to have an extremely low tolerance to pain. Doesn't matter what it is, it always seems to hurt me more, I'm just a wimp I guess.

My nipple piercing was done probably just over 2 years ago now and I absolutely love it. I don't change the piercing very often and tend to keep a horseshoe barbell in most of the time as I tend to find I catch the ball on the side of a straight barbell with my arm a lot. I'm not sure what possessed me to get my nipple done, I'd never had any piercing before other than my earlobes when I was twelve and I nearly passed out then, but the idea just wouldn't go away. One day I just decided that if I didn't get it done I would be going on about it for ever so I got on the bus with my boyfriend and headed for a piercing shop I'd seen near South Tyneside College. I can't remember what it was called unfortunately. I didn't do any research first which probably wasn't sensible, but I think if I had I wouldn't have gone through with it so it was probably for the best.

It took me a minute to make myself walk through the door, but when I did the place was empty, which was probably good because if I'd had to wait I would have gotten too worked up. I was nervous but not too bad and I told the man I wanted my nipple pierced. He took me and my boyfriend through and asked what jewellery I wanted. I told him a horseshoe barbell but he didn't have any sterilised so I settled on a ball closure ring. He told me to clean it twice a day with salt water and that it would take about 6 months to heal fully. I asked him how much it hurt and he told me it wasn't that bad and started to clean my nipple and marked it for the piercing. He told me the clamp might hurt a little, but to be honest I barely felt it. I was getting a little worried by this point, but for me I was doing surprisingly well. Then he started telling me that men always moan more when they getting their nipples pierced, then I was told to breath in, then out, and he pierced it, while telling me that girls never scream, like me....The distraction of him talking to me was quite welcome because I didn't quite realise when he was about to do it, but I was shocked at how much it hurt. A lot more than I expected, and I kept waiting for it to subside like pain usually does a few minutes after then event, but it didn't. Now don't forget, I am a total wimp and I don't think it would be like this for most people but it hurt when I breathed in deep and when I walked my whole breast ached. We paid and then began the (very slow) walk to the bus stop, I think I walked the whole way saying "Ow, Ow." When I got home I had to take my top and bra off because it rubbed and made it hurt more. I spent the rest of the day like this I think. Also because I usually sleep on my front I had great trouble sleeping for a week or so. After a couple of weeks it didn't ache so much but the area around the actually piercing was still quite sore. After about 3 months I changed to ring for a barbell in the hope that it would heal faster, to no avail, it actually made it worse because I kept catching the ball with the inside of my arm. I changed it for a horseshoe barbell I have kept that in just about ever since. It actually took well over a year for mine to heal fully, but I always seem to heal very slowly so please don't let this put you off.

Now I've had it for well over 2 years and I Love it so much, I was so proud of myself when I got it done I kept telling everybody over and over again. As for the sensitivity it defiantly enhances it and it looks amazing. Unfortunately I can't remember the name of the place I had it done but anyone who knows the area will know where I mean. The road from Chi metro to South Tyneside College. The place was very clean and everything was new and packaged, however, I would not recommend it to anyone who was going for a first piercing or who was very nervous, although the man was competent, I have since had much better piercing experiences elsewhere.
