I was raised in a household that forbid me to get piercing or tattoos or any type of body modification, hell, I wasn't even allowed to color my hair! I am now 42 years old and my own kids are raised and I felt it was time for me to finally do something a little crazy and sexy! I decided I wanted my nipple pierced.

We decide on Prix in Old Town Pasadena. It was Friday and I decided to have it done on Friday evening. My stomach was excited all day, kind of like that Christmas Eve feeling. I called Sara at Prix probably three times during that day to ask various questions i.e.: how much does it cost? Is there going to be a lot of blood? etc. etc.
On our way there that night, my boyfriend asked me if it was something that I really wanted to do? He explained that he didn't want me to do it just because he thought it would be sexy and then I had to explain to him (again) on how I've always wanted something done like this! I am so excited. When we arrived at Prix there was no where to park the car. For anyone who lives in the area or has visited Pasadena, this is a crowded spot, especially on the weekends! I looked at my boyfriend and told him to drop me off in front, I would brave it alone.
When I walked in there were three people standing in the doorway watching the crowds and talking. All of them had the various piercing and tattoos. I walked into the store and started browsing around. One of the first things I noticed was how bright and clean the shop was. I had been in other shops and the majority of them had that dark Gothic feel to them, but not this one, it was perfect! I was really pleased! I was looking at the various forms of jewelry when a man walked over to me and asked if I need help? I looked at him at told him I was there to get my nipple pierced. He looked at me and said "ouch!" we both laughed and it broke my tension. He called for the woman who was standing at the front door and she walked over and introduced herself as Sara. I told her I was the crazy one who had called her all day and she just laughed and said that it was fine. She asked the gentleman to help me fill out the various release forms and get a copy of my I.D. and she was going to go upstairs and start sterilizing.
I filled out the forms and signed my life away and sat down to wait for Sara. About 5 minutes later she called me from upstairs and told me to come up for measuring. I went up and she measured my nipple with a little gauge and we went back downstairs to pick out jewelry. I chose a simple curved bar and we trotted back upstairs.
She asked me to sit in a chair that resembled a dentist chair and had me lift my shirt. She asked if I was sure I only wanted one nipple done instead of both and I assured her that yes only one for now would suffice. She used a toothpick and dipped it in a die and made dots on my nipple and asked me to look at them to assure that it was in a position that would be alright for me and then came time for the procedure. Sara showed me the strip from the sterilizing machine to show me that the instruments used were in fact sterile and she explained what she was going to do step by step. I was very grateful because I definitely do not like that type of surprise.
She put a clamp on my nipple to hold it in place and told me that next she was going to asked me to take a deep breath and that it would be over before the breath was done. I told her "ok go for it" She said take your breath and as I did I shut my eyes expecting an excruciating pain, but it was no worse than getting your ears pierced. Very slight and over quick. She inserted the jewelry and had me look at it in the mirror. I was elated! I had finally gotten it done. I thanked Sara and she told me that I would be back for the other one. I think she is right about that and in fact I am considering other piercing as well and would definitely go back to Prix and have Sara do them all.
