I needed an alibi to get out of the house. Today was the day my nipples got a secret makeover. I'm a 20 year old female, and had my nipples pierced with 12g rings today. Why? Because I needed a convenient place to hang my car keys? No. Because the self confidence would inspire me to lose some weight.

My first words of advice... DO NOT PIERCE yourself! Especially if you know NOTHING about piercing! I found this out months ago after my boyfriend and I, iced my nipple till it was numb, took a sewing needle and pierced it, using a nickle to get it all the way through--- From the very beginning I made so many mistakes! (All of which I learned later) I used a hinged ring EEOOoww! I used Epsom salt (NOT GOOD!) And neosporine (BAD because it cant get fresh air to help it heal)

it got so infected and I had to take it out because of the pain and sensations it sent down my back.

SOOO.. I decided to get them done.. Professionally.

I've never been to a piercing parlor before. I had heard about this place called Mothers, and they were open on Sunday's. .I drove there for the first time on Sunday with my boyfriend. Getting there had me more of a nervous wreck versus getting a hollow needle sliced through my nipple. I even had to parallel park on the busy street. (I suck at parallel parking)

But my endorphin's were high, and I was pumped.... we walked into the parlor and the guy asked what could he do for us. I said, "well, I'm thinking about getting my nipples pierced" I said almost sheepishly.

"Ah, well we don't do nipple or genitalia piercings anymore." I almost went ape-incredible hawk-action madness! He suggested the studio a block down. So we walked the busy streets... didn't see it. Walked back up, and down again. Went into another tattoo parlor and they didn't do them either, but suggested the same magical studio that we couldn't find... so we walk down the street AGAIN. We find it! We open the gate and go to the door and this lady cleaning outside says "We're closed...." They open on Tuesdays. It was Sunday... you mean I have to wait till TUESDAY?

Ughhh.... so Tuesday comes. I'm in a MUCH better mood. We drive down there, park, go in and I tell the guys I wanted to get my "nippulars" pierced..... he looked at me like I was crazy. So I pointed to my nipples. I look at the jewelry in the case, pick out some rings (rings are hotter in my opinion) and I picked out the color of the attachment ball----which took a while since the girly side of me came out....GREEN! I jokingly told them that I had turrets syndrome to see what their reaction would be. They said, "well this will be an interesting piercing!"

So I filled out the paperwork. They asked if I would like to get one, or both done at the same time... I thought.... hmmm...the second piercing I hear is more painful...Yes, they said. Then I thought... one guy seeing my boobs, or two..... "ummm.....I'll do them separately" Eventually I was taken back to the room. He talked about aftercare and what not (this is the uninteresting part of the story...which I will graciously skip) Did I mention my piercer looked like Charlie from ABC's LOST???? which made it a much more distracting experience. *sigh*

I take off my shirt and bra and he cleans my nips and draws the dots on the right one.. The left one wont stick out for nothing. He's like "this ones not very active is it?" so I blew air on it and it stuck out. he measured and marked them. We talked and joked around. Which made the whole 'OH MY GOD. I'M SHOWING A STRANGER MY BOOBS' feeling simmer down. We told him about the experience of trying to pierce ourselves and he looked so terrified. Haah! The feeling of being exposed never truly went away. I'm just modest like that though. My boyfriend was very supportive. And I thought, I don't even know why I'm really doing this.....

I suggested that they paint on the ceiling, THERE'S NO TURNING BACK NOW. He laughed. Ok ok. So... he clamps the nip. Which was this tiny thing.....for some reason I thought it was going to be this huge vice or something. Ha! I see my boyfriends eyes... they got as big as saucers when he saw the needle. He is freaking out. Which is freaking ME out. STOP IT. I tell him. Quit making me nervous! Left one first..... Inhale, exhale, inhale exhale PIERCED! My boyfriend squeezed my hand as he watched. It hurt BAD. I even managed out a " EEEeeeEOWWWW! "

My boyfriend definitely made it worse by freaking out. I can see and feel his expressions without even having to look at him directly. The piercing took longer than I thought. And putting the jewelry in was painful too. Next nipple... I told my boyfriend NOT to squeeze my hand.

Inhale exhale inhale exhale PIERCED! ..... I didn't Eeeeooww this time..... as total contrary to all my research, I found the second piercing to hurt LESS. Because I knew what kind of pain to expect. For sure.

So I looked in the mirror and there they were... my new pierced boobies. I put on my bra (which was an old, loose one by the way) and paid them $65 + a $5 tip.

So far, so good. The gauge looks so big to me! But like everyone has said, if you want to get them done, quit hesitating like a baby and get them done. Pain goes away, but the experience and adventure never will!

Safe, clean, and happy piercing to all!
