When It just happened
Artist Jeff Bartel
Studio Skin Graffix
Location Belleville, Ontario, Canada
For about a year, I pondered the idea of piercing my nipple. I was unsure of this procedure because of the pain and whether or not I could find an artist to complete this for me at such a young age (Legally in Canada, you must be thirteen for piercing, although many piercers prefer a note from the parent(s)/guardian(s) for reasons I'm sure are obvious) and mostly whether or not this piercing was suitable for me, because I am very self conscious of my tits and very well endowed.

I did plenty of research on BME experiences/photos as well as various other websites; I decided it was totally safe to pierce my nipple. I had gotten over the pain, because I realized it will only last a split second, I found a new artist in my city who was not only clean but willing to perform my new piercing and my boyfriend assured me that I would look beautiful either way, and if I was not comfortable with it, I could easily remove it.

My next concerns were...

A.) Will my nipple stay erect if I were to take it out and let it heal over? -Possibly. Although, if you leave the piercing in long enough, the skin with get used to it, and eventually relax, leaving you with nothing but a little scar tissue.

B.) What gauge does he pierce with? Jeff used 14g hoop on my nipple. I was a little concerned with the thickness, but if the ring isn't big enough, it will be torn out and possibly rejected.

C.) What are the chances the hoop will be rejected? -Slim to none.

D.) Do I HAVE to get a hoop in? -If you REALLY don't want to, although a hoop is easier to clean at first.

E.) Will I be able to breastfeed the same, if I choose to later in life? -Yes...some say it increase breast milk flow (gross, I know) and not only that, but you could even breastfeed with the ring in (Although, I highly don't suggest it, because your baby could most definitely choke on the ring)

F.) Can you freeze it A.S.A.P.? -No, my piercer did not freeze, because there isn't much point to it, and after getting it done, I would have to agree that I don't think it would have made much of a difference.

My boyfriend, Chris and my friend Stephanie came with me; I got behind the curtains and removed my shirt and bra completely. Firstly, he took new gloves out of a package. He applied some stuff to clean around my nipple and then asked me to stand straight with my arms done and not to move an inch, while he got out a new marker to mark the spot. He then laid me down on the bed and removed everything from his packages, including the hoop, the needle and the clamp. I lay on the bed, while he took about 3-5 minutes to line up the clamp completely (I can't stress how much you should make sure your piercer does this, because you need to make sure that the needle goes through the right spot, otherwise, it may hurt a lot, and you don't want that.) And then he started asking me questions to calm me down...Although, after quite a few piercings, I knew what this guy was all about and I knew what was coming and refused to answer the questions. He shoved the needle in with ease. Infact, I couldn't even FEEL the needle ent ering the skin, but once it got inside, oh man, I could feel that. It was not as bad as I thought though, which I suppose is a very good thing, because I had myself so worked up on all the pain that this little needle was going to cause, so it was most definitely a relief when it didn't hurt as much as I had of expected. He then removed the needle, which I could not feel and then put the hoop through, at that moment, I had realized how much my new piercing increased sensitivity in my nipple. The cost was only $50.00 Canadian. On my way out he covered the after care instructions with me and instructed me to make sure to just use soap and water and to turn the hoop around. Don't be too scared if it hurts or stings a bit, because that is just the soap getting in to clean. He also told me the pain would go away in about a week and that it should be healed in four to six weeks.

On our way out the door, Stephanie ditched us and my boyfriend and I got food. I snuck into the bathroom to take a peek at it. I love it so much now and I am really glad I never backed out because I definitely had my doubts of getting it done. My boyfriend was so proud of me because I was so terrified, but it was really not as bad as it seems.

I would strongly recommend this piercing, it's totally worth the pain(Which I would describe equally to about any piercing, just not as sharp, more as throbbing pain...in a good way) It's sexy and it's secretive, I just can't wait until it heals over to play with it! :)

Feel free to e-mail me if you have any questions :)
