So. First off I am not a wimp by any means so I knew going into the piercing I could handle it. I had pierced my own lip. Broken things and had quite a few injuries. I can tolerate pain if I put my mind to it. I thought I had done my research the only reason I chose going to the shop I did was because my friend had told me her boyfriend got his done there. I come to find out the girl that did his DID work there just quit because she got screwed around. That said. It was the WORST pain of my life I couldn't even believe what I had gotten myself into. But there was no turning back at the point I paid the money So here goes...
At A Glance Author Kelly Contact Kelly@bme.anon When A week ago Studio Email me Location Memphis I had been reading stories on here about it not hurting bad and being QUICK and the pain being unique but not super painful. Okay, I can do this after reading this. It can't be THAT bad. I got to the shop and got nervous and started wandering around. They started talking to me and told me it was quick. She said five minutes and I would be in and out. That was when I found out I was going to be the girls first time. I know that's a bad decision on my part but I didn't think it would make much difference. She took me back there measured my up and picked my ring... Wait a ring? I thought I was getting a bar?
Oh well she knows what she's doing. 2 other piercers came back a long with my boyfriend. They sat there figuring out if I needed a clamp or not which made me just want to turn around. Wasn't this a quick thing? I didn't think it would be a social gathering. They sat there and chitchatted while I was in horrible pain. She marked me while I was in the chair. MAKE SURE they mark you standing up mine are ALMOST crooked.
She then cleaned me up and got ready the clamp was bad. But not near what I was preparing for. It wasn't quick or easy she took her time. I read I should have bled a few drops I was bleeding a fountain. She took longer on the second one. She also asked questions during the piercing which made me much more nervous. She shouldn't have to ask questions. The second one caused me the worst pain. It could have been because it was the second one, or that she took much longer getting the needle through. I don't blame it on the piercing just hurting that bad in general. It could have had something to do with who did my piercing. I wish I had gotten someone who had some experience! The five minutes turned into ten to fifteen minutes. I didn't cry or scream I kicked my foot on the second one.
I probably have scared you by everything. It was my fault for trusting a friend's opinion and going to a place I didn't know. Go to a familiar shop and I'm sure it won't be as bad as my experience I'm happy with my piercing. They were really nice piercers just not as familiar with it as I thought. It was only painful for me a couple hours afterwards then the ibuprofen kicked in and it hasn't hurt very much since then. I wear a sports bra to work just to keep it from getting twisted around at all. But for the most part I wear a normal bra the rest of the time. It hasn't caused me any problems yet with it. I did wake up with it flip over once. That can be painful in the first week.
Although I did start looking at piercing videos online afterwards and the way she did it looks nothing like how other piercers do it. Not quick at all. :(
And make sure whoever goes with you to hold your hand doesn't have a weak stomach.
My boyfriend nearly passed out at the needles and blood coming out. HE had to sit down when I was done with it when I was just ready to go get some pain medicine ;)
They are still sore but it's MUCH better. I went to the store and stocked up on dial soap and cotton balls and ibuprofen.
E-mail me with any questions about the shop or what not.
The only reason I didn't put the shop up there is because I don't want to ruin their reputation it could have just been the girl's problem. E-mail me if you would like to know what shop it was though I'll be happy to tell you.
Good luck! With your piercing.
