I don't know when piercing came into my life. I just remember really wanting to get my belly button pierced. I brought it up to my parents and of course, there answer was No! I kept trying until they finally gave in and took me to a piercing shop. I'll never forget my first piercing! I had my belly button pierced at 16 years old. I fell in love with it! It was so cute! I knew after that day I would want more and more piercings.
Years down the line, I was talking to my cousin on the phone. She told me she wanted to get her nipples pierced. I told her, Are you crazy? She said no, she just wanted to do something different. I couldn't blame her because by this time,I still had my belly button pierced and got my tongue pierced a year ago. Whatever!I wanted my nose pierced anyway! We did our thing and walked out both freshly pierced. I loved my nose and she loved her nipples. I noticed when she was getting it done it didn't even phrase her. My cousin can't take a whole lot of pain. But, she passed with flying colors! It got me thinking that would be my next piercing!
Months went by, and I was still thinking about getting my nipples pierced. I needed more information. I knew nothing about this piercing. My other piercings I just learned about from word of mouth. People don't openly talk about getting their nipples pierced. So, I looked online and got all the information that I needed to ease my mind.(This is before I found BME) There was a lot of questions going through my head. Does it hurt?(It's different to watch than to get it done)Does your nipples swell? Can you still breastfeed later on in life? Does the piercing see through your shirt? After doing my research I was still undecided. Should I?or,Should I not? Then, I thought you only live once. And, I would be mad if, I didn't at least try it out. Besides, I can always take them out. I want my nipples pierced soon.
The next step was trying to convince my boyfriend. I told him what I wanted to do and he said it's your body. He really didn't want to say yes but, I knew he wanted to make me happy. Now, all we needed to do was pick a day. On our next day off we had lunch. We may our way to the piercing shop. I'll never forget the car ride. It was a Thursday evening and the sun was setting. We had the radio playing and Red Hot Chili Peppers was on,the windows were down and a nice breeze rushed across my face. My stomach started getting knots in as we got closer. My palms started to get sweaty. My boyfriend knew I was nervous and started trying to get my mind off of things. So, we went down memory lane.
Before,I knew it we were in the parking lot. He said are you ready? I said as ready as I'm going to be. We walked into the shop. It still looked the same. I got my nose pierced here with my cousin. It was the same piercer. I asked him, do you remember me? He did and I told him I wanted another piercing. I wanted both of my nipples pierced.(Might as well get both.) I filled out some paperwork and he asked for my i.d. While, I was filling out the paperwork , he was setting up for the piercing. He then said come on back. By this time I am really, really, nervous, but walked in like a pro.
Game time! I laided down on the chair.(How come every piercing chair looks like you are in the doctor's office?)My heart all of sudden starting pounding really hard. I grabbed my boyfriend's hand and wouldn't let it go. As he said take a deep breath, I grabbed my my boyfriend's hand even harder. In the same instance, he had already pierced my nipple and a needle was sticking out! It didn't hurt at all and I had no blood just a clear substance. This is what I've been worried about for months. I could have got this done earlier. He screwed the jewlery on and did the same thing with the other nipple.
Last, but most important was the aftercare instructions. I felt pretty good walking out of the shop knowing how to take care of my new piercing! My boyfriend loves it too! It was hard for me to sit in the seat on the way home. I just wanted to go home and take off my shirt and bra and fall asleep. That is exactly what I did and woke up in the morning feeling refreshed. I had to get used to taking a shower, because the water pressure would hit on my jewelery. I got used to it though. I love my piercing more than ever!
So, if you want to get your nipples pierced Go for It!!!! It really doesn't hurt as much as you think it does! Plus, they have cool jewlery like nipple shields. Happy Piercing!
