I'd been contemplating the idea of having my nipples pierced since I was 17 – there was a girl who had one of hers pierced at college, and I was completely amazed by it. At the time I was happy with my piercing status (my 11 earrings) so eventually forgot about it. I recently met a guy who had two vertical nipple piercings, and it was then that I realised that I could actually have it done myself!

I had a university field trip in the next month, which would have meant I wouldn't have the time to look after the new additions properly. Also it was winter, and my nipples hurt like hell in the cold enough without new piercings! I think taking the time to consider the piercings properly was a good decision on my part – it gave me time to find a reputable studio and to find out more about what I was letting myself in for! It also took me a few weeks to persuade my boyfriend it was a good idea, he wasn't too impressed...
I eventually settled upon Holier than Thou. It was recommended to me by a few people and I'd read quite a few positive experiences on here about it. Previously I'd used a place in my hometown, but that was a good hour's drive and I wanted somewhere closer.
So, one lowly Tuesday afternoon, I had my lunch and then set off to the studio. The place was absolutely spotless. I filled in all the usual forms, and the lovely lady explained the aftercare sheet to me (I think she was called Lyn), then led me through to one of the back rooms. This was also immaculately clean. I took off my top and bra, and she marked my nipples. I checked the placement, it was perfect. She changed her gloves, and then set about preparing the equipment. I lay down on the table, and watched her set up. She moved a few things about and changed her gloves again.
She told me to take a deep breath, and then I felt a very sharp prick through my right nipple. It hurt, quite a lot, but not half as much as I had expected. More uncomfortable was putting the rings through the new hole. I looked down to see a lovely shiny ring through my nipple, bleeding a little bit. As she prepared for the left piercing, I felt a trickle of blood go down my side. The left one definitely hurt more, my adrenaline rush had worn off. The next time I looked down, I had two shiny rings through my nipples. Excellent. The left one bled very slightly, but was nothing compared to the right one, which had now bled down onto the table! She gave me a couple of wipes to clean the blood off with, and then put a bandage over each one. Righty got double bandages for bleeding so much. I got dressed and went back out to the counter to pay. I would definitely recommend Holier than Thou – the place is immaculate, and the staff are friendly and professional. If I decide to get any more piercings, I would be more than happy to return.
I was expecting to have to go straight home, but I felt fine so went for a little walk around Manchester city centre. There is definitely something in having two lovely new piercings that no-one else knows about that makes you feel very smug. I was a little wary of them bouncing but they felt fine. After about an hour, I got on a bus and headed home. This was the absolute worst part. My new nipple piercings felt every single bump in the road. I wouldn't say that they hurt, but it certainly wasn't a pleasant experience. On getting home, my breasts started to ache horrendously. I took a couple of painkillers, which didn't help, so I just had to wait it out. Luckily they were feeling much better by the end of the day. They bled on and off for two days afterwards, so I kept them in bandages and left them alone apart from cleaning. They were tender for the next week or so.
My nipple piercing experience was twelve days ago now, and they seem to be doing fine. I find that the right one is still a little sensitive to being knocked (I caught the ring on my bra earlier on and it hurt!) but seems to be ok other than that. Accidentally rubbing them on things is absolute heaven - nipplegasms are the way forward! They are much more sensitive now. I can't wait to test them out properly, but that will have to wait a couple of months now!
I just love the two little metal rings through my nipples!!!! They look fantastic, and if the pain is the only thing holding you back... well, what's a moment of pain for many years of pleasure?
