I am 22 years old and I have been thinking about getting my nipples pierced for over a year now. I've been with two girls that had them pierced and absolutely loved them. They both only had one nipple pieced. One girl said she was planning to go back and get the other one day after the first healed, but the pain was too much for her to handle. I broke my wrist a few weeks ago, so I had 4 pins in my skin. I decided that after I got them out I was going to celebrate by going to get pierced. I don't have any other BM, but I have 11 scars on my body. I guess I count those as my tattoos.

I called the night before to make sure they took walk ins, and asked a couple of questions. Shannon said she had been working there 3 years and they use all sterilized equipment. I went in to the shop and they were kind of busy, but Shannon took care of me right away. She had me stand up and mark points on both my nipples so it would be straight. This was important to me because I've read a lot about people being unhappy about crooked piercing. Everything looked really clean and I was impressed by their shop. I had been told that that nipple piercings are the most painful so I went in expecting the worst. She had me lie down and put the clamp on my left nipple. Mine are pretty small so it took her about a minute to get them stretched out. "Take a deep breath" and then the needle went it. She pierced both of them with 14 gauge barbells. The first one wasn't bad at all, I must have had a lot of andrenaline pumping. The second one was a little worst, but again not nearly as bad as I had been told it was going to be. The barbells were more expensive, and apparently get infected more easily. But Shannon said in her experience that's not really true, and I think barbells look much better on my body anyways. I have a pretty high pain tolerance; it was a sharp discomfort, but nothing to bring me to tears or anything. Certainly the recent pain of my broken wrist was much worse. Shannon gave me a bag of sea salts and 1 page sheet on aftercare which was faxed and not that clear, they should type it up in a proper word processor with some more details. Luckily I had done my homework before hand so I knew what to expect.
For about 2 hours after they felt great. Then they got really sore for the rest of the day. I took some ibuprofen to help so I could fall asleep. I have been doing cleanings twice a day with sea salt soaks right after. I just bought some lavender oil which I'm going to start adding to my soaks every other day. The soreness is getting better, I like sitting around my house with no shirt. This kinda has motivated me to start working out again and define my body. I went out and got drunk last night, and they started to hurt again then. A nice worn in cotton shirt is the most comfortable thing right now. I wish I had a silk shirt or something, I think that would feel great. Maybe I will have to goto the store and get a nice Hawaiian shirt or something. Everything seems to be healing up good. So that's the story of my first piercing, now I'm addicted and trying to think what I want next. I'm doing some backpacking in Europe this summer, so maybe I will get a tattoo or piercing as a memory of my journeys.
My nipples were so small before, almost inverted and non-existent. Now they look great, the barbells are small but fit my body really well. I am really happy with my decision and want to get some spikes as soon as they are healed. They weren't even all that sensitive, but I did like having them touched. Now they are really awesome. I have only showed a couple of people. I came home and said "look what I just got done" and showed my roommate. He said they looked great, and that my girlfriend would love them. We were talking and the whole time he's staring at my nipples, he goes "man I can't stop looking at them." Later my girlfriend came over and I surprised her. She really like them too, but kept brushing up against them. It sucks that she can't play with them now, but the wait for them to heal will be well worth it.
