I suppose my obsession with nipple piercings started when I stumbled across Suicide Girls and their free gallery. Not only were they hot, they had some nice piercings. I'd never seen nipple piercings with barbells (as opposed to rings) before, and I was instantly in love. They were cute and sexy all at once. Perfect.

However, my parents have banned me from piercing anything other than my ears, and even that privilege required years of begging. They're stopped me from getting a labret or tongue piercing, but I decided there was no way they were going to find out if I got nipple piercings. I don't generally flash my parents.

I get my allowance straight to my bank account at the end of the month, so with February 28th money, I'd have enough to get my piercings. It was a Tuesday, and I spent the entire day at school in a state of complete giddiness. I couldn't pay attention in class, all I could think about was how in a matter of hours I'd be getting the piercings I'd been wanting on for years.

As soon as the clock struck 3:09 and the bell rang, I was out of there! I made my way downtown and met up with my boyfriend, and we went straight off to New Tribe. Usually I'm easily distracted by the fabulous shopping on Queen W, but today I was on a mission, the piercings came first!

We walked up the stairs, and I went up to the counter and paid (about $85) and then sat and waited. Up until that point I hadn't been nervous at all, I was just excited. But once I paid all I could think was that I was about to get needles shoved through a rather sensitive area.

Within about 5 minutes I was called in. I was led to a small room with a counter, a bed type thing, and a mirror, with a curtain over the entrance, which made me happy. Most piercing places I've seen have rooms where more than one person can be pierced at once, and there was no way I was flashing a room full of people. A professional piercer is one thing, but I didn't want some guy ogling me while he was getting a piercing.

My piercer was Daryl, and he was super nice which took away my nerves. Throughout the whole thing we were chatting about my industrial, BMEZine, and such.

He started by showing me that everything was sterile, and how he's would dispose of the needles in a safe container. I think that kind of stuff should go without saying, but it's nice of them to go over it anyway. Then I whipped of my top and bra and tossed them at my boyfriend to hold, who was sitting in a chair in the corner, looking slightly traumatized (piercings aren't his cup of tea).

Daryl cleaned the area, and then held up the barbell to see if it was the right size, he decided I needed a size bigger, so he ran off to get new barbells. He came back and then made dots to guide himself. I was getting them done at an angle. After I'd Okayed the placement, he had my lie down. By this point my nerves were creeping back.

He clamped my left nipple. Not so bad, just some pressure. Then he brought the needle over, told me to breath in, and then a small prick. Ok, not bad so far. Then he said to breath out, and ouch! When the needle was going through the middle then out it hurt way more than the initial prick. Nothing unbearable, but ouch! He then repeated the process for the second nipple, this one hurt a bit more. Probably because I was expecting the pain.

When he was done I got up to take a look in the mirror. They were gorgeous! I couldn't stop looking at them. Neither could my boyfriend, but that's probably just because I was topless. Boys will by boys. I got redressed as Daryl was explaining the aftercare. Sea salt soaks twice a day for 4-6 weeks. I thanked him and gave him a tip.

I had a piercing high for the rest of the day, I was completely giddy. They were a bit sore for a few days, but it wasn't bad. Throughout the healing process they didn't give me any trouble at all. I made sure to always wear a bra, even to bed. And jiggling would make them sore in the beginning.

Now it's been a month and a half and they're healed. My nipples are extra sensitive now, and the piercings are fun to play with. They're my favourite piercing so far.

I definitely recommend New Tribe if you're getting anything pierced.

Happy piercing!
