The nipple piercing has always been one that has fascinated me and enthralled me, so I decided why not to just go for it and do it myself. I have always liked the idea of having a piercing, but didn't want to get anything that would be visible all the time, so I decided that a nipple piercing would be the perfect piercing that is subtle yet nice.

I didn't like the idea of going to an actual piercing studio because I have never had a piercing before, so I decided to do it on my own. I had read many websites on the internet including bmezine.com about doing a piercing yourself and all the risks associated with self piercing, but I was confident that I could do it myself and have satisfactory results. I read about proper sterilization, cleaning, and aftercare and realized that it was all something that I could do.

So I went ahead and ordered a piercing kit off of ebay that was already sterilized and came with needle, cork, jewelry, and clamps. I figured that this was probably the best way to go because I would have all the proper equipment that was sterilized and safe to use. I didn't have to worry about using an unclean needle or about having a needle that wasn't the proper size.

After I had all my supplies together and had built up enough confidence to go ahead to do it I got some alcohol and cleaned the nipple that I was going to pierce. I decided to just go ahead and only pierce my left nipple at first because I wanted to make sure that everything went alright and that I didn't have any problems. I was also unsure of how straight I would be able to get them so by doing one and letting it heal it would give me a better idea of what to expect and what to do next time to get them straight. As of right now I still only have my left one done, but I plan on doing my right nipple soon.

So I had all the supplies and my nipple sterilized it was now time to go ahead and do it. I was so excited. I am one of those people who enjoy pain and pushing my mind's limits so I enjoyed the whole experience. So I went ahead and got everything together, made the marks on my nipple for the entry and exit points, lined up the clamp, and then it was time to insert the needle. I decided not to numb the nipple with ice because I read that this could make it tougher for the needle to go through and since I like the pain I wanted the full experience.

I put the needle up to the mark and started to push. At first it didn't hurt too much, but as I broke through the first layer of skin there was a sharp burning pain. About half way through it became very difficult to go further so I stopped to collect my thoughts and build up the confidence to finish the piercing and push the needle through the rest of the way. So after building up the courage to go on I started to push again. I don't recommend stopping in the middle of the piercing because it becomes difficult (and painful) to start up again. Probably the most painful part of the whole experience was breaking through the final layer of skin. As soon as I broke through I sighed in relief for getting it done.

Now it was time to insert the jewelry. This wasn't too much of a problem because I had used the proper sized needle and jewelry so the jewelry slipped in nice an easy and it looks great. I screwed on the other end of the barbell and it looks great.

I was surprised at how straight and even I got the piercing. It looks as though a professional did it and so far it is healing great. It has been about a month and so far I love the piercing and I can't wait to do the other one now. All the girls love the piercing, so if you need help with the ladies I totally recommend a nipple piercing. When I do have my other nipple done I am considering going to a professional. Just because he is probably better capable of being able to line up the right side with the left side and I want them as symmetrical as possible.

I also wanted to note that just because I have had a successful experience with a do it yourself piercing I don't recommend it for everyone. There are risks associated with it and you need to be very careful.
