It was a spur of the moment action when I decided to get my 14g nipple rings. It was at the same place I got all my other piercings, so I wasn't concerned about cleanliness or anything of that sort; I knew I would expect a nice, clean environment. Surprisingly, the procedure wasn't as uncomfortable as I thought it would be. We walked into the room, and before going through what was going to happen, he asked if I wanted the door closed or not. After that question of privacy, I proceeded to unbutton my shirt. I stood straight with my arms down at my sides, as he bent down and started marking my nipples, so the jewelry would be even. I was surprised because he was marking them while they were not erect, later to realize that that really made no difference in the placing of the jewelry. After making the appropriate marks, he told me to lie down on the piercing bed.

Already a little self-conscious that I was lying half naked beside a tattooed man about to be pierced by him, he proceeded to make a joke about it all, an attempt at trying to make me (or maybe him too) more comfortable. He exclaimed how he had to "massage" the nipples first so they became erect in order to pierce them. During those funny and slightly uncomfortable seconds, I wasn't even prepared for the pain that was about to come. He clamped down my right nipple first, and told me to breathe in, then out. As he pushed the needle through my nipple, the shock of the pierce caused me to suddenly jolt my right arm a little bit, hitting him on the side, causing him to laugh and ask if I was okay. I told him I was fine, and that I guess I just wasn't prepared for a needle to go through my nipple! Before he pierced my left one, I moved my arms behind my back (a slightly erotic move now that I think of it!) as to make sure I wouldn't jolt again. Surprisingly, the second pierce was not as bad as the first. He then put in the jewelry as he did the first and I was done.
Though he did not bandage them as the little "aftercare information" card said they would be, I buttoned up my shirt again and thanked him, leaving the studio. Hours after the session, my chest area was sore and quite frankly, annoying. Days later, I would be cleaning up the crusties and dried up blood from the piercings.
This is where the bad part comes in. Thinking they were fine, I was dumb and did not pay strict attention to what the piercer told me about aftercare. I was sexually active when getting them pierced, and this resulted in the migration of the jewelry, leading to scarring. staring in the mirror, I could tell they were not as even as when I first got them. Cleaning them twice everyday did not do anything to help because it was simply a migration issue-- though they were not rejecting, you could see the red area where the jewelry pulled on the holes and moved them down, and small areas of scar tissue where they should have been. Months later, with no sign of hope anywhere for the migrated jewelry, I decided to take them out. It has only been a couple of days, but the scar tissue/tiny scabs that happened when I had the piercings are starting to calm down and heal. Since it is not a piercing anymore I apply bactine (a sensitive solution for first aid wounds) and sometimes a first aid ointment to the areas.
The lesson I learned from a bad nipple piercing experience? NEVER pull or play around with new piercing jewelry--no matter where it is! It will almost always migrate, looking badly done.
I really adored my nipple piercings. But now that I don't have any anymore, I plan on getting horizontal and vertical piercings soon. Before getting nipple piercings, one must consider sexual activeness around the nipple area, switching to no-under wire or sports bras, something that does not catch on the jewelry and that you won't mind getting stained a little with crusties or blood, and realizing that after getting them done, little moves touching your breasts will now be magnified due to the sensitivity of the piercings in that area! So take care of those nipple piercings, and do not subject them to any sort of touching!! Also, use the cleaning solutions appropriate for fresh piercings. A first-aid solution (even a sensitive one, like bactine) does not heal correctly; when I applied bactine to my pierced nipples, the scabs appeared and came off, but new ones simply took the place of old ones. Simply put: read the information the piercer gives you about the aftercare of your new piercing!
