Thought I may contribute by bringing a nipple piercing story from mid to late in the healing process, as I've had time to go through the good and the bad with them, and yet it's not too long ago that I can't remember what happened!
At A Glance Author Laura Contact Laura@bme.anon When Three months ago Artist JP Studio Access All Areas Location Nottingham, England I had my piercings done in the access all areas studio in nottingham, i was very comfortable with this as i had a lip piercing there over a year ago, my bloke has two labret piercings from there..basically i've never known anyone have any problems with them.
I was a little apprehensive about getting my nipple done, and had a good chat about it with the lady who owns the place (sadly i can never remember her name!) but she made me totally at ease about it, reminding me that as long as I was careful with it there was no real reason for problems.
I was pleased to find I was having the same piercer as last time, and as i remembered everything was very clean and organised. He asked me to remove my top, and I was amazed how not embarrased I was! I'd discussed downstairs that I'd rather have ball closure rings than bars, and JP double checked this when we first got upstairs to the piercing area, to make sure that i was getting what I wanted.
He made the markings with pen with me stood up, and I checked the placing in the mirror, next I lay down on the seat and he sprayed me with a kind of anaesthetic cooling spray, as he gave this time to take effect he prepared the needle etc. Next he used an anaesthetic wipe on me..this made me really relax 'wow, two kinds of anti pain! hehehe' as he brought the equipment over from the work top I had the 'am I really doing this?' feeling I think most people get at some stage...but I'd been waiting months to get it done so I wasnt backing out now!
The piercing itself wasn't very painful, I cant pretend I didnt feel it, but it was more uncomfortable than actually hurting, I just gritted my teeth after a couple of breaths, it wasnt too bad at all, better than I was expecting. For some reason I'd imagined the piercing going from the outside to the inside of the body in direction, but it was actually the other way round. I remember looking down at the needle through my nipple and thinking 'wow, I did it'. the next bit was slightly worse though..the body wasnt really made for titanium insertions and it made that known. It wasnt incredibly painful at all, but was more noticable than the initial piercing.. then it was over. I checked in the mirror and was very proud of it straight away..top back on and went to happily pay the measly 20ish quid this great piercing set me back.
As I left I jokingly said to my piercer 'Lets see how long it takes me to come back for the other' At that time I thought it would be a while, but the piercing was so nice, my bloke loves it too, and it was healing great, so five days later I was back! the second(my right) was even less painful and even now is healing better than the first one, maybe due to my being more relaxed when I was pierced.
Anyway this was in January and I'm having no problems.. from day one i've had blood from one of the nipples only, and only on two occassions, which were my fault!
I've known some people be concerned that nipple piercings can give you 'permanent nipple erections'..I'll confess my left one did stay rather awkward shall we say, for a couple of days, which made it fairly sensitive, but after that it was back to normal and they give me absolutely no problems in that respect. Due to this my first piercing in particular was quite sore the first day after I got it done - as I told my colleagues when I kept forgetting and reaching up for things off the top shelf at work you have no idea how much you stretch your nipples about during every day life - I claim to have a new understanding of that now! It really wasn't so bad, but because they didnt hurt very much I would foolishly stretch my arms up or pick things up forgetting totally about the piercings and making them a bit uncomfortable afterwards..but if you aren't a scatter brain like me you probably won't have that problem! :-)
You have to be a bit careful with clothing when they are first done too obviously, I did a lot of experimenting with different bras, different tops and all that..but you soon learn what suits you best..and it was only 6 weeks til I was back in corsets again! :)
Sleeping initially was a bit awkward too I'll admit, but thats 'cos I often sleep on my front, which obviously I couldn't do!
I love these piercings and would recommend to anyone who is considering it to go have a chat with someone at a reputable piercing parlour..if you really do want them done..be brave, its worth it! ;)
