I went to a suspension event a few weeks back organized by Pete from the Piercing Urge and was really impressed by how professional he was with his work, and decided that my next piercing would be done by him.

I spoke to Pete about getting it done and booked an appointment for the following week.
A few people I knew had it done so I spoke to them about their experience and I got the idea that this was going to be a very painful piercing. Generally I get excited not nervous about piercings, but for some reason the thought of sticking a needle through my nipple had me a little worried.
I jumped onto BME and had a look at different pictures, I also looked at Petes gallery to get an idea of how I wanted it done, and I decided that I wanted a horizontal bar.
So Friday came and when I woke up I had been bitten three times by a spider while I was asleep, my hand was swollen as was my arm, I was already nervous as hell about getting my nipple done and now that I had venom flowing through me I was even more stressed.
I drove down to the Piercing Urge and went and got a slurpie to boost the sugar levels, which has now also become a piercing tradition for me, and waited for my good friend Tim who was coming as moral support.
We then went up the stairs to Petes lair which was extremely well set out and clean which helped to ease my nerves. Tim and I said hi to Pete and watched Tod spin around on chairs while I filled out the necessary forms and Pete got his bits and pieces prepared.
It was then time to go into the piercing room and Tim and Tod came in as well, Pete marked me up while Tod took photos and I had a look in the mirror to check the positioning, I got Pete to mark me three times before I was happy with the position and I was happy that he was fine with me being so picky.
I felt a lot more relaxed when the photos were being taken so i focused on that rather than the thought that I was going to be in pain in a few seconds.
I got up onto the table and grabbed hold of Tims hand while Pete put what looked like Betadine on me to clean the area. When the needle went through my nipple I let out a nice swear word and felt a intense sharp hot pain going through. I looked down and saw what I think was the feeding tube sticking out me which looked rather amusing.
Then it was time to put the bar in. When it went through it was more of a dull throb than a sting but it still hurt a lot, however this pain only lasted for a few seconds, then the balls were put on.
We used a surgical steel bar and balls, I was considering using titanium but I have been happy with the outcome from surgical steel so i stayed with it. The balls are a little bigger than I would have like but i will swap them once it has healed.
I stayed down on the table for a few minutes and then got up and walked over to the mirror, I was so happy! I was even more happy that I had been so picky with the positioning because it was nice and straight and looked so good. When I got up there was a slight stinging sensation that only lasted a few seconds.
Pete went through the after care with me and I'm using Micro-shield once a day when in the shower, which is the easiest way to clean it. So far it hasn't bled and I don't have any crusties so I'm very pleased with this after care method (however use whatever your piercer recommends).
I sleep with a tight fitting top on because it aches a little when it is out free but apart from that I haven't even noticed it unless it is brushed up against something. A bra is great I found because it keeps the bar close into you and protects it from being bumped. The good thing about this piercing is that i don't sleep on it at all and this has probably helped with the healing, unlike with ear piercings.
A nipple piercing is a great thing to have done, the pain is a little intense but from my experience it was very much worth it. And if your in Melbourne I would suggest you go see Pete at the Piercing Urge because he is an absolute star.
