This is a piercing I got about 2 years ago, maybe a little more. I was vacationing with my family in Virginia Beach, something we did the year before also. I always like to get pierced when on vacation, like a permanent souvenir. (I got my first navel ring in Greece, my second navel ring in Virginia Beach and many tattoos in my home town of Middletown, NY.) This time was no exception. We were there for almost a week and I had been thinking about getting my nipple pierced but I never thought I would actually work up the nerve to do it. My older step-brother wanted me to get it done, simply for the fact that he wanted to get his nipples pierced also and he wanted me to do it first.

On our second to last night in Virginia Beach I finally decided to get my nipples pierced. I remembered to wear a button down shirt to prevent any "pulling" and I walked into the shop. I had been to this place the year before and had my navel pierced so I knew they were clean and friendly. I picked out some very nice hoop barbells and decided on the horizontal piercing. I love getting pierced, this was my third and fourth piercing and nothing can match that feeling of nervousness and excitement of getting pierced. I find that you always psych yourself out more and expect it to hurt much more than it actually does.
So I went into the room and sat down in the chair. I was cold in the room, plus I was sitting in a leather chair so my nipples were hard as rocks which seemed to work out for the better to be able to grip them with the clamp. Now, I like having my nipples squeezed but this pain was worse than actually getting a needle shoved through my nipples. But, in a second it was over and I had 2 very shiny, beautiful new additions to my growing collection. I thanked the lovely woman for her help, gave her a hefty tip and walked out into the warm Virginia air.
Now, maybe she forgot to tell me or maybe this was just a personal side affect, but my nipples stayed hard for the next 6 hours. I always wanted to have perfectly hard nipples but actually experiencing this is a different story. This was pain. Plus, it did not help that it had started raining outside. I went to a club and was relaxing with a drink but my nipples were so hard that I could not ignore the pain. But walking down the street I felt so good. My newly pierced nipples hard against the rain, I was as high as a kite. There is something about a new piercing that makes you feel high, just like floating. And for a while I did not mind guys staring at my chest. By the next morning they were back to normal, just a little sore.
My left nipple took longer to heal than the right one. Probably I banged it into a wall a few days after having it pierced. But then it always gave me more of a problem then the other one. It really never stopped bleeding, it was always just a little infected and sore for a very long time. The left one gave me problems when changing the barbell also. It always seemed to me that there were 2 holes in the left nipple one went straight through and the other forked off from the other to a dead end. So sometimes when I was changing the barbell, I would curve into the other hole and could not find the opening.
About a week after getting home from vacation, my mother noticed these new little bumps under my nipples and knew right away that I had gotten them pierced. She said I looked like a slut. I asked her why she was staring so hard at my breasts if she did not like them.
After 2 years I met a wonderful man who I'm sharing the rest of my life with and he hated the nipple rings, he thinks they get in the way of foreplay. I kept them in for about 6 months after we got together until the problems with the left nipple, plus my boyfriend telling me that I look so much better without them in, I finally took it out.
I sometimes regret taking them out. I miss looking at them in the mirror and seeing them shining back at me. Maybe I will get them pierced again. I would definitely go back to the studio where I got them done in Virginia if I was in the area. It is a very touristy place but that does not mean that they are not professionals.
