Location Glastonbury, UK
So there I am in the centre of Glastonbury, on a Saturday afternoon in the middle of winter, once again convincing myself that my rent can wait and that I need to cut down my food intake anyway. Why? Because, yet again, I was about to use the last of my pennies on a piercing. What can I say, when I get the itch I have to scratch it...

Now to start at the beginning... On one of our random road trips Martin (my partner) and I stumbled upon a tattoo studio and, having been drinking all day, he booked himself in for a tattoo session the next day! Now, I actually did have a tattoo design drawn up (another story) that I intended to get but, thanks to a very attractive case of eczema on my ankle the tattoo was impossible. Pissed off, but knowing I didn't want it anywhere else, I accepted defeat and accompanied him as an observer. However, once we got there and chatted to the artist and the piercer I started to get the itch, the one where you know you just have to get something done!

I had been thinking of getting my nipples pierced again since I'd had to remove my last one due to rejection. I wasn't too sure about having it done by someone that I hadn't been to before but she seemed very capable and had a lot of experience. So... halfway into Martin's tattoo session I went to ask her a few questions and all her answers were perfect! The problem is where I live a lot of the piercers are quite set in their ways, my usual piercer had moved shops and others I had spoken to would only use CBR's and I wanted straight barbells. With my money situation not being great (understatement!) I think I kind of hoped she'd give the wrong answer and disagree about the bars, instead she completely agreed and said she prefers them! Well what could I do, it was obviously meant to be...!

So while Martin was still getting his leg done we went into her separate piercing room to get sorted. I sat on the bed, memories of my last nipple piercing fresh in my mind, while she sorted her stuff out. She showed me a choice of jewellery, I chose two plain silver bars, I can go for all the colourful stuff when they're healed! Now what was different from my last experience was the fact she used some sort of spray freeze, she didn't warn me which annoyed me a bit because I would have preferred not to have it. Anyway, my nipples felt so strange it kind of took my mind off the fact they were about to be punctured, I soon remembered though as she began to get the needle ready! I held on to the bed pretty tightly (as tightly as you can with sweaty palms!) and braced myself. The actual piercing did hurt, but as I got to the point that I wanted to stop it was over, just like that! The last time I had my nipple pierced was with a CBR and putting the ball on was the worst part of the procedure, with the bar it was over in a second. For the second one I was a bit tender and wanted to get it over with, knowing that if I didn't get it done then I'd probably never get round to it! The first one (left) started to bleed quite a lot as soon as the jewellery was in, it looked a bit strange since on my first attempt there had been no blood at all. The second (right, the one that had been previously done) didn't bleed at all. It's weird watching blood trickle from such a delicate part of your anatomy.

All finished I was ready to go, but Martin still had some work left on his leg, so back to watch I went. Sitting there felt weird, they didn't hurt they just throbbed. Luckily I was wearing quite a well-padded bra so that helped! When we got back to the B&B we were staying at we compared wounds, him hobbling around and me holding my breasts protectively! They looked good, bit of blood but nothing major (the right had started bleeding too by then). Just kept tissue in my bra for a few days, actually it was about a week to be safe! And wore a bra in bed.

It's been two weeks now since they were pierced, they're looking pretty good if I do say so myself! Usually I bathe piercings with salt water, but this time I've just been cleaning them in the shower with a cotton bud (q-tip) and leaving them alone. The only thing is that I'm really paranoid because the last one didn't survive! They're pierced slightly differently, due to the scar tissue on one, and I'm a bit worried that the bar might be a bit too short. Nothing major though, these babies are healing well and I have no intention of removing them in the near future!
