For some reason, I decided to go with a nipple piercing. I have facial piercings (BCR hoop in my lip and a BCR hoop in my nose – as well as multiple cartilage and a tragus piercing) and a tattoo, but I'd been dying for another mod that was a little more extreme. After much deliberation, I decided to forego the vertical hood piercing that I wanted, as I couldn't handle the idea of going without sex whilst I waited for it to heal! So I decided on a nipple piercing. I figured once it healed it would be pretty fun for my boyfriend and I to play with. I chose my left nipple as that isn't the side I sleep on, and I though it would heal better if I wasn't constantly putting pressure on it when I went to sleep. I decided to go with a vertical bar, as I thought the horizontal one looked a little too...usual. I wanted a ring, but thought a bar would probably heal better. I decided on a coloured titanium bar, as it would carry the least allergy risks, and the colour would go well with all my other piercings, as they are all blue/green titanium.
At A Glance Author Naked Faery Contact Naked Faery@bme.anon When It just happened Studio Akasha Location Portsmouth, England I have extremely sensitive nipples. I know this from when I tried to breastfeed my son. My nipples do not cope with pain very well. I was also worried my nipple would be too flat to pierce, but as soon as I bared my chest in the cool studio, it popped up. That was one hurdle overcome, but the pain idea was still bothering me... Foolishly, I decided to go ahead with the piercing anyway. I dragged my boyfriend into the studio with me, and literally squeezed his hand whilst it was being done.
I was absolutely bricking it by the time my appointment came up, and I literally had the shakes as I sat down in the chair. My piercer was lovely, and reassured me that it wouldn't hurt. My girlfriend told me that her nipple piercing hurt like hell, but I decided that maybe she was really a wuss, and my piercer was in fact right. I wonder how my piercer learned to lie so well...
The freeze spray went on, I swear I nearly threw up from the nerves. I clutched my boyfriends hand and gritted my teeth as she clamped it, which was bloody uncomfortable enough.
When the needle went in my eyes nearly popped out of my head. It was so unbelievably painful. I know I have a horrendously low pain threshold, which isn't great for someone who loves mods, but seriously, this hurt SO MUCH. I felt a sort of crunching sensation as the needle went through my nipple. I think I blocked the pain of the actual nipple piercing out pretty quickly after that, so instead all of my stomach muscles clenched and I felt a sensation I can only liken to a severe contraction. My piercer decided to tell me afterwards that many people have said to her that a nipple piercing is worse than giving birth. I'm not surprised she decided not to tell me that beforehand, she would have seen me fleeing from the studio at 100mph!
The size 14/1.6 bar went in and I squeezed my boyfriends hand tight again. When I finally unscrewed my eyes to look at him, he had gone deathly pale and looked like he was going to throw up/pass out at any time. Afterwards he said he really felt for me as that needle was going in because it looked so NOT RIGHT.
It bled a hell of a lot. To the point where I had two plasters over it which had leaked blood through. I eventually took them off after about four hours, only to have it leak blood every time I so much as caught the piercing at all. It was also swollen, very swollen, so my nipple looked very erect, sort of like it does on a very cold day when I'm not well wrapped up enough. So I cleaned it off with my aftercare solution, and covered it back up again. This morning when I went to get in the shower, I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw congealed blood all over it. I leapt in the shower to clean it off, only to scream out loud when the hot water hit my extremely sore nipple.
It's not even been 24 hours since I had it pierced, and it already looks pretty damned good. The swelling went down almost immediately, and it looks so pretty, I'm having to resist the temptation to whip my boob out to show everyone at college.
All in all it was definitely worth it. The pain was EXTREME, but over quickly and now it looks so nice that I can't wait to get my right nipple pierced as well!
