I have to admit, I had been thinking of having my nipples pierced for a very long time. I find the sight of a pierced nipple very erotic and wanted mine to be like that. It was certainly on my list of things to do in this lifetime. And even though the yearning stayed strong, I kept delaying it for one reason or another. Finally, I became involved with a very special and wonderful man who felt the way I did. He very strongly encouraged me to get this done. With his loving support to bolster my sometimes failing courage, I knew I could do this.

We did a lot of research on piercing as well as the potential hazards to my health. I am an insulin-dependent diabetic. When we felt we were armed with enough information, we began looking for a shop and a piercer we could feel both confident in and comfortable with. Our search led us to Progressive Piercing in Chicago. While the shop is located in the oh so awesome shopping complex called The Alley, it is its own entity with clearly defined boundaries. The owner, Scott, is an incredible person and piercer. He is one of the few fully licensed piercers in the Chicago region and has over 12 years of experience. On the day of the piercing, I was very nervous. (Can we say butterflies the size of pterodactyls?) Unfortunately, even though my beloved wanted to be with me, he couldn't make it. So, with him in spirit (and with his comforting voice on the phone), off to the shop I went.
I entered the shop area and was met by Scott, who immediately put me at ease. There is no doubt in his expert knowledge, dedication and professionalism. He exudes confidence in his abilities, is compassionate and fully customer-oriented. (A major plus in my book!) We talked about the gauge, the angle of the pierce (horizontal for me!), the procedure and the aftercare. Every question, every concern was carefully and patiently addressed with thoughtful and clear responses. After just a few minutes with Scott, I knew we had made the right choice. The piercing room was equipped with the "medical" paper covered bed, autoclave, a sink and various piercing supplies. Everything didn't just look clean, it was clean, sanitary and well cared for. Scott was very meticulous in following sanitation protocol and in showing me "my just out of the autoclave" piercing kit. (I actually saw him remove it from the apparatus. Very comforting sight that was!)
I removed my shirt and bra and never for a moment felt uncomfortable standing half naked. His gracious and professional manner was just the perfect blend of attitude. He cleaned my nipples, marked them, inspected, remarked and cleaned again. He is quite a perfectionist in making sure that everything would be exactly right. When he was satisfied with the marks, he asked me to lie down on the table. He then wanted to know if I had a preference as to which side to do first, but since they were both being done, it was of no consequence to me. Scott positioned himself on my left side and let me know that the next step, the actual piercing, would only take place once I felt ready to proceed. I had read many stories about how much the clamps hurt, but Scott doesn't use those. He is a strong believer in making the piercing experience as comfortable and as non-traumatic to the flesh as possible. (Yay Scott!!)
When I finally said I was ready, Scott lined up the marks and while I took my deep breaths, it happened. I had expected massive pain since my nipples are very sensitive, but this sensation was like nothing I had ever felt before. There was a big pinching feeling and something that felt like a muscle cramp and a little discomfort. But that was it. The sensation was gone just as fast as it had appeared and my nipple was adorned with this beautiful high polished titanium 10 gauge barbell. When I was ready to proceed with the right side, (do this quickly while the adrenalin is rushing!), Scott similarly adorned the other side. I have to say, I was shaking a little from the adrenalin rush but my oh my, the reflection in the mirror was so worth it! Scott finished me up
with some clear Tegaderm seals over my newly gilded nips. While I put my clothes back on, he completed my paperwork (the big legal stuff was already done as the jewelry was picked out). I paid both the piercing fee and Scott's tip with the money my ever so generous sweetheart gave me and left.
Scott's meticulous and fastidious attention to every detail and to comfort is a major contributing factor to his well-deserved reputation as a stellar piercer. I know I would gladly refer any and all to his establishment, and if there are piercings in my future, it will be to Scott I turn. Now that it is over and I look at my still Tegaderm sealed pretties, I know my pre-piercing anxiety was for naught. My new 10 gauge, high polish titanium barbells are
absolutely exquisite! It is without a doubt so very worth it! I can't wait for my fantastic and supportive honey to see them! If it weren't for his love and gentle prodding, I wouldn't be beautifully decorated. So, if you have a desire to have your bosom bejeweled, I say, go for it! You won't regret it!
