I never had any desire to get my nipples pierced until a few weeks before I had them done. My girlfriend at the time wanted to get them done for her birthday. Before my nipples all I had was a PA and an Apadravya done, and by this time I had caught the piercing bug, so I needed to get some more holes in my body.
There is a shop in my town called The Zone, but I refuse to go there. They very unfriendly and just looking for a quick buck. They are also the kind of people who will do a piercing for the 'cool factor' of a picture in a portfolio, even if the piercing totally failed and scarred the person later. Slightly off topic, but I think it's good to warn people about bad shops.
I got this piercing done by Chris at A1 studios in Gladstone, MO. Chris is a good guy to go to, but for anyone looking for a piercer in the KC area, I recommend Jeremy Upshaw at Freaks on 39th. He is the shit.
A1 is about an 80 minute drive from where I live, so we hopped in the car and made our way up there. I called Chris before we left, so he was ready for us by the time we got there. He led us to the piercing room and had us each take a seat. He did mine with 14g CBRs, and Jackie's with 14g CBBs. Jackie got her nipples done first. She said it was almost painless. It was my turn, and I was totally ready.
First he marked me with everyone's favorite purple ink until he had the placement just right. Then the clamps came on. I hate clamps. I will never get another piercing done with a clamp again. So we did the breathing thing, and he went "One, Two..." BAM! Good lord that hurt, even more than my PA or Apadravya. I took a minute to pull myself back together, and we got ready to do the next one. This one hurt so much more than the first. I really got dizzy and pale. I had to drink some water and lay down for a minute. My nipples were definitely the most painful piercing I've ever had.
They were very sensitive that night, I could feel every bump in the road through my nipples. They didn't bleed much. I got home, took a shower, admired them for a little bit, and went to bed. At first they were healing fine.
I had problems with stuff bumping into them ALL of the time. I work at a warehouse moving heavy things all day, so it was very hard for me to avoid them getting hit or touched. There were a few times I hit them hard enough to rip them.
I went to texas about 10 months after they were pierced, and they were doing pretty good. But then I got drunk and started riding on the back of a golf cart. I fell off the cart, landed on the street, and I not only ripped my nipple piercings, I also ripped the top of my left nipple and lost the bead to the ring. I wore a bandaid on my left nipple to cover the wound and the keep the ring in place. Every day that I took off the bandaid to shower, I thought I was going to scream. Eventually we made a trip into austin, and I got a replacement bead, from a somewhat shady shop.
I think they only got injured one more time after that. Every time they would be close to getting healed, something would happen and the fistula would rip on one of them. I almost gave up on them a few times. I'm glad I didn't though, they are fantastic.
About 1 year after I had them, I decided to stretch them. That was not the smartest thing to do, considering they were not fully healed. I had a pair of 12g CBRs left over from a failed pair of scrotum piercings. I took the 14g ones out, lubed up the 12s with a non-scented anti-bacterial soap, and they just slid right in with out a problem, I didn't even need a taper. Yesterday I tried doing that some 10g rings, but I didn't work, I'm going to need to taper them first.
So if you get your nipples pierced, and you live an active lifestyle, you might want to heal them with barbells. I found that my rings moved around quite a bit, and that can be uncomfortable to say the least. If this is a piercing you've been considering, but hesitated for whatever reason, I tell you to hesitate no longer! You be glad you got them, and they will give you a lifetime of enjoyment.
