I found myself interested in getting some piercings a little over a year ago, born of some desire to do something crazy, most likely. Whatever the reason may be, I finally had some done.

I probably didn't do as much research as I should have, but even though I didn't, So far they have all turned out very well. My youngest brother had his tongue pierced in early December, something I had been wanting to get also, but not as much as some nipple piercings, which I'm going to focus my story on. I had been wanting my tongue and both nipples done for a long time, but had been swamped having to work (holiday season and understaffed). I finally got a break the first week of the new year though, and decided it was now or never. My brothers experience at The Music Box had gone well, and he wanted to switch to a shorter bar for his tongue, so I volunteered to give him a ride there since I wanted to have my tongue done too.

When I arrived, I let him take care of his business first, and then paid for my three piercings. I picked out my jewelry, paid about 65 bucks, and waited until the piercer was ready. I was a little nervous, mostly due to the fact that I had not done any sort of research whatsoever as far as this piercers abilities were concerned. I knew that I would be swamped again when I went back to work though, and I wanted them done and have time to heal before going back, so it needed to do this now.

After I got into the room.......well, booth, really....just a small curtained off area, more of a cubicle.......it was good though, nice and clean and everything, cool artwork around, that kind of stuff. Anyway, I sat in the chair, and waited while she got everything ready, plastic gloves, clamps, jewelry, needles, and whatever they use to sterilize with.

When everything was prepared, she told me she wanted to get the nipples first because they would probably hurt a lot more if I waited to do them after the tongue. I took off my shirt, and she sterilized them and then carefully made the markings around each nipple so that she could just do them both in a row quickly so that I wouldn't have quite as much pain. The whole process was considerably less painful that I thought it would be, especially after reading many of the stories here, but perhaps I got lucky.

When everything was ready she leaned the chair all the way back to help me relax, and probably to help her reach (I am tall, 6'3"). Once she attached the first clamp, I was pleasantly surprised, I had been expecting it to hurt, but it was barely noticeable. Once she was ready to put the needle through, she told me to take a deep breath, and then breathe out. She pushed the needle through while I was breathing out, and I was surprised because it didn't hurt either, there was a slight burning but that was it, the needle was through. At least that was what she told me, I was staring at the ceiling, and I decided that I would just take her word for it, just in case it might have started hurting if I looked at it. She pulled the needle out and put the jewelry through and moved on to the next one, which did hurt slightly more, but was still nothing compared to what I was expecting.

Once the jewelry was through, she still had to complete it for both, I went with a couple of hoops because I just don't like how the bars look personally. When I had got them, I had just assumed that the little ball on them screwed to one side or something and then just screwed back once it was in, but it turned out that they are really just a couple of circular bars that have to be bent with a little wrench until the ends meet inside the ball.

After that was all taken care of I finally got to look at the completed picture, and was happy with what I saw, neither hurt, I didn't bleed, and I was feeling good. I even still got my tongue pierced after I put my shirt back on. The worst part of the whole experience was having to wash my mouth with Listerine.

That night in The Music Box was three weeks ago, and all piercings are doing just fine. The nipple piercings were a little unusual to get used to though, changing clothes was a bit more difficult, and at the moment they still sting a little if I catch my shirt on them then wrong way. Sleeping was also a bit more difficult, as I have always tended to move around a lot in my sleep, and I did have one night where that caused my right nipple to bleed. Since I have got them, I have been washing them with antibacterial soap. What I did, was I cut a plastic cup down to a much smaller size, probably about an inch and a half tall, and I just put a little bit of soap in the cup, mix it well with some water, and hold it to each nipple for a couple of minutes each night before I get ready for bed.
