It had been slightly longer than two years since I was last pierced. Why the long break? I'm not sure, although deep in the back of my mind I knew there were more piercings that I wanted to have done. Having both nipples pierced was one of the very piercings I'd been longing to have and I now felt that the time was right to take that step forward to modify my body with some shiny new additions.

I arrived at the studio Friday morning when it opened without an appointment knowing in advance that they are never heavily booked because it's such a small studio. I spoke with Lee and told him I wanted to get both nipples pierced and he advised me to go have something to eat then come back in 30 minutes which suited me perfectly.
When I arrived back at Punktured I spoke with Lee again about the procedure and types of jewellery. I chose circular barbells and it was recommended that I have them pierced at a 14ga instead of the 12ga I originally wanted. Lee outlined some of the risks that can be associated starting at a larger gauge, one of those being that the heavier jewellery can cause added stress on the surrounding tissue and be more likely to migrate at an earlier stage. I had heard different stories about this theory through reading the QOD on BME, some for and some against, but in this case I opted to go with the advice Lee had given me knowing it had been provided with the best intentions at hand.
I filled out the necessary paperwork and it was at this stage I was asked by Lee if I would prefer to have him pierce me or their female piercer Pieta. Not feeling comfortable enough to get semi naked in front of Lee I chose Pieta and then waited a while for her to set up.
I was called to the piercing room where Pieta and I spoke about the procedure and how it would all work. She had a very calming aura about her and had a way of making me feel very comfortable. I was asked to remove my t-shirt and bra then I was cleaned up and marked up. Pieta got me to look at the markings from every angle to make sure I was happy with where the placement of the jewellery was going to be. The markings, although difficult to see from all angles appeared to be perfect.
I was then asked to lay back on the bench which had the back propped up for my own comfort, was clamped on the left nipple while being told that I may feel some tightness as the needle was a 12ga. I took a deep breath and the needle went through. Now I don't exactly have small nipples so it felt like that needle was a mile long pushing through my flesh even though in reality it was all over within seconds. I felt the tightness that Pieta said I would but once the jewellery went through I felt great and there was no bleeding.
One down, one to go.
Knowing how the first one felt I expected the right nipple to feel the same but it hurt even more and as with the left nipple, once that jewellery went through all the pain vanished. Once again there was no blood.
I remained laying down while Pieta talked about healing time. Knowing that I planned to stretch further down the track she recommended that I wait as long as possible so as not to damage the tissue and to take it slow.
Once I felt alright to stand up I headed over to the mirror to look at my latest additions. They looked and sat perfectly and being the kind of person that is very particular about symmetry Pieta had done such a wonderful job that all I could do was thank her for such beautiful work.
I was handed aftercare information but because I have very sensitive skin I can't use antibacterial soaps so sea salt soaks twice a day is what I will be doing. I explained that I would be going to a concert later that night so to protect my new piercings Pieta provided me with a couple of surgical patches which would provide enough padding for me to feel comfortable with.
I am pleased to say they survived the concert and I gave them a nice long soak before bed to remove the small amount of blood that had suddenly built up. I was able to lay on them throughout the night and felt no real discomfort at all. It's day two now and for the majority of the day it has felt as though I've had no piercing done at all. This evenings sea salt soak soon altered that feeling because now they are extremely tender but nothing to cry about.
I'm still over the moon with how good they look and can't believe I waited so long to have my nipples pierced. As usual, the people at Punktured have made me a happy modified girl.
