I've been thinking about getting a nipple pierced for quite some time, must have been more than half a year. I don't (personally) know anyone who has a nipple pierced, so I decided to have it because I liked it and not because I wanted to look someone else, which I think is important. Although I wanted it I just never decided to just go and do it. One day, a week ago, while I was eating my lunch, I decided to just go and do it.
At A Glance Author AndrejTM Contact AndrejTM@bme.anon When A week ago Studio www.exit.gs Location Ljubljana, Slovenija I have read a lot about nipple piercing on BMEzine and knew almost everything there was to know about nipple piercing. I knew it could hurt a lot and I knew there could be complications, but nevertheless I decided to go and do it.
So, after finishing my lunch I went to the piercing shop with a friend of mine, with whom I had lunch. As we arrived at the shop I asked about getting my nipple pierced and I was told to come back in 15 minutes (the time needed to disinfect the piercing and call the piercer). So, I went away and came back in 15 minutes, even more nervous than before. The piercer came 2 minutes after me and we started the procedure.
He told me to undress so he could figure out the right size of the piercing. I decided to get a ring so that the cleaning of the piercing would be easier (compared to a bar). Fortunately my nipple is small enough so that I could get a small ring, which I liked better. I started talking with the piercer and he told me he was one of the best piercers in Europe. That sounded strange to me and I asked him who determined that. He explained me it was based on conventions and past piercings, the number of rejected piercings and stuff like that. Now I actually believe him he is one of the best - I think I could not have less problems with this piercing.
He put on some sterile gloves and disinfected my nipple. Then he marked the holes. I looked at the holes in the mirror and they looked OK to me, but he told me that the nipples turn left and right, depending on the temperature and that there actually was no perfect piercing.
Everything that followed was very quick; he used some clamps to pull out the nipple. I started breathing deeply, expecting the needle to go through my nipple. I remember him joking about how my heart is beating fast.
I just looked away and the 1,6mm needle was through my nipple. I must say it almost did not hurt, although I could feel some pain. He then cut the needle and removed the clamps. I looked at the nipple with the needle inserted; there was no blood.
In the mean time my friend wasn't feeling as good as me at all. He just couldn't stand the vision of me getting pierced (I hardly convinced him to come with me, but I had no idea he had this sort of problem). He passed out and the entire crew at the piercing shop had to help him; they gave him some water and placed him on the bench, where I was originally getting pierced. At the end we all had a lot of fun and we're still making fun of him for what happened.
After this the piercer inserted the ring in the needle and pulled it out, so that the ring remained in my nipple. This proved to be the most painful part, although I must say I could not describe the entire process as painful. He then waited for the two drops of blood to stop and put some Bepanthen cream on the nipple to help the healing. This was the end of the piercing. He then instructed me on how to clean the piercing and how important it is to do it. I paid, thanked him and went away.
After I week I must say I am very pleased with the piercing. There was almost no blood, no pain and no sort of problems whatsoever. I think the piercing is almost completely healed by now, although I keep cleaning it three times a day (I will continue to do that for the suggested two weeks). It looks very cool and I think it increased my nipple sensitivity, although I'm not really sure about this right now, I will have to wait for it to heal completely.
I can just encourage everyone who wants to get a nipple pierced; it was a positive experience for me and I would do it again. I would strongly suggest that you find a very good piercer – in my opinion that is the difference between a good and a bad piercing experience.
