This whole series of events started about 6 months ago, and the methods described are not recommended. My group of friends are known for doing some stupid things for a laugh, including smashing halogen lights on one another's heads. My friend James and I had always thought it would be funny if we got our nipples pierced, but never gave it any serious thought. One day I came home from school and went on the computer. I don't remember what made me think of it, but I started looking at pictures of people with their nipples pierced and thought, not only would it be funny, but they actually look really neat. So, with that I started researching nipple piercings, found this site and read other people's stories. It seemed like a bit of a jump in piercing, because all I had pierced at the time were my ears. Despite my apprehensions, I wanted to get the nips pierced.

There was one major problem with my wish, I wasn't 18 yet. My parents had always said that if I wanted something like that done then it would have to be after I moved out of their house. That wasn't warning enough, so I made a decision... if I wanted it done any time soon, I would need to take things into my own hands.

So, a few days later I felt ready to do it. I got a safety pin (that I held in a flame), some anti-bacterial soap, and some ice. I went into the bathroom, took off my shirt and put ice on my nipple to make it hard. I took the safety pin and started pushing it through my nipple. I had to push very hard, probably because the pin was dull, and finally had it about half way through. I took a tiny break and noticed that I was shaking and had a dull pain in my chest, but I decided to finish the job. I pushed very hard, and after about 7 minutes total, had the safety pin all the way through. This is when I encountered problem number 2, I didn't have a ring to put in it. I figured I would close the safety pin and leave it until I could make a body jewelery run. I went to Hot Topic the next day and got some 18g captive rings. I came home, went to my room, and after a little pain got a pink 18g ring into my nipple. The next day I showed all of my friends and they thought it was the funniest thing ever. People I had never seen were asking to see it, and the gross-out factor was pretty fun.

After that the healing process went very well. I cleaned my nipple a few times a day with anti-bacterial soap, making sure to move it around a little. 3 weeks later it seemed really healthy and didn't hurt at all anymore. But it looked uneven, I only had one nipple done at the time, and I decided I needed the other one pierced too.

This time around I did a much better job of piercing my nipple. I got a 14g needle from my friend Katy, which was also a lot sharper, which would help. I went into the bathroom after my parents had gone to bed and began to pierce my other nipple. It was easier because the needle was much sharper, but since it was my left nipple this time, it was a bit more awkward. After 3 minutes or so I had the needle through, soaped it up, slid it out and put a 14g hoop through it. It didn't move very easily, but it didn't bleed. Overall I was happy with it. I also stretched my right nipple from an 18g to a 14g so they matched. For people that are thinking it would hurt too much, the actual piercing doesn't hurt, but afterwards they can get pretty tender. At night, I would make duct tape/toilet paper bandages so they didn't catch on my blanket. I also recommend taking advil or something else to keep the soreness to a minimum, it can be rather distracting to say the least.

Since seeing my pierced nipples and having a good laugh, I think my friend James is now considering getting his nipples pierced. Now that I have both done, I'm super happy with them. They're fun to show people, and, for those of you that have parents like mine, are extremely easy to hide. It's been 6 months and my parents have no idea. They look good, and they're both healthy and well-healed. Some girls I have talked to said they thought it was pretty hot, but others were grossed out. Either way, I'm glad they're pierced and I enjoy looking at them when I get dressed.
