My first experience with having very sharp needles and jewelry shoved through my body was about a year and a half ago when I got a PA (Which is also documented on BME). Even though I had pierced my favorite body part and, yeah, it hurt a bit (but only for 30 seconds or so), I was incredibly nervous to get my nips pierced.
I've been thinking about doing this for a while, although only very seriously for about a week. The same thing happened with my PA--I spent about 6 months researching on this site as well as others, and then all of a sudden I got the urge about a week before I did it where it was all I thought about. I ate, dreamt, and breathed PAs.
Same thing here--I just finally decided to do it today after getting done with work.
This is the first time I've gotten a piercing in Appleton, but I went off my friend Tracy's recommendation of Burt at 3rd Dimension. She had both of her nipples done (twice--they migrated the first time) and a vertical hood by Burt.
Well, I made my way into the shop, nervous as all hell, and checked out Burt's portfolio. Very professional looking--good work. I decided to fill out the consent form and just go for it. As I was filling out the form, 2 other guys came in, one to get an industrial. I let them go first so I could just sit and calm myself down for a little bit. As I was filling out the consent form, I came to the question asking "Have you had any alcoholic beverages in the last 8 hours?" "DAMNIT!" I thought. I had 2 beers with lunch at my place of employment (restaurant). Thankfully Burt said I'd be fine.
Finally, it was my turn. I had an audience (a girl and her mother wanted to watch my nips get poked) so it was a little piercing party in a room that was very sterile looking.
Off with the shirt. Then Burt marked with ink where he would pierce. After that, I sat in the chair and he got ready to go. Let me tell ya--the clamp is almost as bad if not worse than the actual piercing. I wasn't sure how deep the piercing would be, but it really wasn't deep at all. On go the clamps and he's pullin' and twisting and it's kinda like "ok already, quit playing with my nips--they're mine to play with" but then he was situated (he started with the left nipple). Got out the cork to receive the needle, had me breathe deeply once, and exhale, then a second deep breath, and on the exhale he poked me. MAYBE a second of pain, possibly 2, but no more than that. I seriously think the clamp was worse. Well, anyway--first one done so I know what to expect, on to the second. It was a very similar experience and I knew what was coming. Done and done.
The overall pain comparison between a PA and nipples is hardly worth comparing. The PA certainly hurt. It was a very sharp pain for maybe 2 seconds, at which point an immediate stretch in a brand new wound is also pretty painful. Luckily with that piercing it was a one time deal and I was done though. With the PA, there was pain for 30 seconds at most, at which point the endorphins kicked in and I was on cloud nine.
The nips were much less painful. A quick tug 'n pull with the clamp, and a quick poke and then the same thing on the other side, and it's over. Endorphins kicked in just as quickly, and aside from some mild irritation from the wind blowing my shirt against my new tittie jewelry, they feel great!
Immediately after this, I went back to work to have another beer. I needed one after going through this ordeal :)
Now, I know you're not supposed to drink before or after a piercing because alcohol thins your blood thereby increasing your chance of bleeding while getting pierced, but I was fine before and after. I've never bled during any piercing, and I don't plan on starting. Even after the beer, I haven't begun to bleed. Let's just hope I don't toss and turn too much in bed tonight :)
After I got back to my apartment, I went upstairs and sat on the futon and started watching some TV. I decided that even the dull ache in my nips was no good (very bearable, but not pleasant or welcome) so I popped a few advil. Now I'm feeling great and am back on cloud 9!
I now have beautiful nips with 14g CBRs :)
I almost backed out at the last second when it was my turn, but I decided that if I could get a 10 gauge needle followed by an immediate stretch to an 8 gauge CBR shoved through my willy, then surely I could get a tiny 14 gauge needle shoved through my nips which really aren't that sensitive anyway (well, they weren't :) )
So far, so good. I would recommend this studio to anyone considering anything.
