First off, before I even start to write up this experience, I have to state that I do NOT recommend DIY piercing, unless the person performing the piercing knows what they are doing. This piercing was done on a good friend of mine who asked me to do it for him and understood that he would be my 'guinea pig' of sorts.

I have an ex-boyfriend who is a piercer, have had many piercings done myself, and have been with friends when they have been pierced. By no means does this make me an expert, but I do however feel confident enough to pierce myself and other people.
This past Saturday, I had to close at my place of employment. We close at 11 PM, but usually the closer doesn't get out of there until around 11:30. On this particular occasion, I had called J, my ride, around 10:30 to make sure he would be there to pick me up. He assured me that yes, he would be there. My cell phone rang at 11. It was my friend Danny-O. He was waiting outside my work for me. He informed me that my friends and I had been invited over to my friend Chris' house to play poker that night. Danny-O would take me home to get my things and pick up J, and then we would go to Chris'. I said ok and told him I would be out when I had finished my work.
About 10 minutes later, I walked out to Danny-O's car. He had Fat Tony and Robby with him. Fat Tony asked me if I would cut his hair for him that night, and Robby asked me if I could pierce his nipple for him. I told him that I could, but all I had was 12g needles and 14g jewelry. He insisted that was fine, and told me that if I had the supplies, he wanted me to do it. I told him I would have to shower and get my tools cleaned up first, but it wouldn't be a problem.
We stopped at my house, picked up a few basic shower essential and J, and then went to Chris' house. The minute we walked in the door, Robby asked if I would pierce him. I told him I had to shower and get my tools cleaned up first. I could tell he was getting antsy about it, and told him that I would hurry. I took a quick shower, dried my hair and got dressed, and the minute I was out of the shower, Robby was asking me. I told him I still had to clean my tools and get things ready. So, I sterilized the clamps, got out the pre-sterilized needle, asked Chris to get me some Neosporin, cotton swabs, gloves, alcohol, and a gauze patch. We were going to use the bathroom, but the lighting was horrid and there was no room to move around, so I ended up setting up in the kitchen.
I laid out all my tools on a paper towel. Then I had Robby pick out a piece of jewelry. He ended up picking one of the CBR's with the blue beads that I had gotten my own nipples pierced with. I told him that the needle was bigger than the jewelry, and he was ok with that. So, after washing my hand and donning a pair of powder-free (I'm allergic to the powder kind) Latex gloves, I had Robby sit down. He took off his shirt and I marked his nipple. I asked him how it looked, and he said that it was just fine. I asked if he was ready, and after getting an indecisive yes, unwrapped the needle. He said that the needle looked ten times bigger OUT of the package, and I told him they had a tendency to do that.
It was poker night after all, so there ended up being eight of us in attendance, so I had six spectators. Brandon, Beau, J, Chris, Danny-O, and Fat Tony were all standing, watching the entire proceedings, telling Robby how bad it was going to hurt (even though none of them would know) and that he would chicken out at the last minute. Robby kept laughing, which made me laugh, and I had to keep telling him to stop laughing, or I would never get his nipple pierced. I went to clamp his nipple, and every time I would touch him, he would start laughing and say that it tickled. Really, the only words that came out of my mouth through the entire piercing were "Robby, stop laughing!"
Chris finally had to stand behind him, with Robby arms held behind the chair so that he would stop leaning in to me. I got the clamps on his nipple and told him I was going to count to three. I slathered the needle in Neosporin for easy insertion, and started to count. I got to three and pushed the needle through. It seemed like it took forever for the needle to come out the other side, and when it did, it started to bleed. I told Robby he was doing awesome, and he said "Well, at least the hard part is over", to which J replied "Oh no dude, the jewelry is so much worse! When the threads go through your skin, it kills!" Robby proceeded to get a little nervous about the jewelry part of the whole thing. I told him that they weren't threaded at all. There was nothing to worry about. I slid the end of the jewelry in to the end of the needle and pushed both needle and jewelry all the way through. I was surprised that I had gotten complete silence while the actual piercing was taking place, besides a few choice words from Robby.
I got the bead put on the ring and cleaned up his chest where the blood had run with some alcohol. I had him hold a gauze patch on it for a while till the blood dried up, so that it wouldn't get on his shirt. I asked him how it felt, and his only response was "I need a cigarette."
All in all, it went really well. I called Robby the next evening and asked how everything was. He said that it was a little tender, but he could move the ring freely through the piercing and that didn't hurt at all. I told him that was good and gave him a list of instructions on how to clean and soak it.
The whole piercing went really well. Again, I do NOT recommend performing a piercing unless you know what you are doing. This was my first nipple piercing, but I have my own done and my ex has explained and shown me the correct way to pierce nipples. I would not have done it if I hadn't felt confident in myself to perform a safe, clean piercing. Robby knew all the risks he was taking, and had me do it anyway. He felt comfortable and confident enough with me, and that gave me a lot of self confidence.
I really do enjoy piercing, and intend to keep on learning and doing.
