Ok first maybe I should give you a little background info (mostly to explain why I felt the need to do this).
At A Glance Author anonymous Contact anonymous@bme.anon When Six months ago About a year ago, I was your average teenager, no piercing, no tattoos, nothing.
One day a friend of mine came up and said I would look really good with my eyebrow pierced.
At first I thought she was crazy, then I asked a few other people and they thought it would look pretty cool. So I figured why not it might look kind of cool and if I don't like it I can just take it out right. Any way story short I have that done and I love it to death)
Now eight months later I had the urge for another piercing. Now my mother being the old school kind of person is like "no you don't need another piercing" (I had asked for a second eyebrow ring right beside the first). So I put it off a couple days. Then the weekend came, my mom had gone out for the day and I was totally bored and surfing BME thinking of what I could pierce without anyone finding out about it. Then it hit me my nipple.
So I spent about 10 minutes looking around for something I can pierce it with (being only 15 at the time I didn't have any money or a credit card to buy proper needles with)
eventually I come to the decision that a strait pin would work the best. Ok I'd gotten out the strait pin, my spare 16G CBR, and lots of rubbing alcohol. So I set up my little piercing place in my room and get ready to do it. About it minute later I attempt to pierce ,it no good need more pressure, I push again really really hard it goes in but only about halfway. "Damn it" I said to myself and I push again one more time and it starts to pop out the other side. That entire process took 30 minutes. At the time it was the most painful experience of my life (it's now been topped by my recent ear stretching). Well now I have to needle through but the hard part is getting the ring through. So I figure hey if I let it heal a bit I can take the needle out and slip the ring in. So I put a band-aid over the ends of the needle and wait till the next day.
Halfway through the night I find the needle has slipped out of my nipple half way so I just pull it out and go back to bed.
In the morning my mother went to work so figure why not try again. This time I figure maybe I should use a bigger needle because that strait pin was way to thin. I hunt around a bit and find this nice large safety pin (not quite as big as a kilt pin though)and I figure it should do because after I get it through I could close the pin up for a day or two until I can get the jewellery in.
So after I do all the prep work yet again I get myself ready.
Now remember I just pierced my nipple once the night before so it's really tender, but it must be done.
45 minutes later I get the needle through entirely (nipple skin is so tough and it's so complicated without a clamp but anyway I get it through and with very little bleeding.
But it caused me some extreme pain.
After a couple days of very extreme care (sea salt soaks, alcohol soaks ect ect) I pull out the safety pin telling my self "either the pin comes out and the ring goes in or the pin comes out and the ring doesn't go in and I give up" luckliy for me the ring went in just fine (well ti hurt but other than that it was fine) and I just put the ball on it cleaned it again with some polysporin and go out of the shower happy as a clam.
Now after doing this piercing myself I have also gotten couple other my ear lobe witch I have stretched out to 4g and my cartilage at eye level which still has the stud in it so it can heal.
I feel my nipple ring is my favourite piercing but I would never pierce myself again. Mostly due to the fact it gets infected ever 5-6 weeks and I have to constantly clean it out.
To anyone even thinking about piercing themselves either think it through a lot and get the right tools or find a professional to do it trust me it's worth it. I'm never doing another piercing myself again. Ever and I really defiantly do NOT recommend it to anyone.
