Like many other younger, modded folks, my 18th birthday was partially spent in a piercing shop. I called around to the shops in my area to check prices and Precious Slut was not too expensive, but not suspiciously low either. (It cost $80 for both, including jewelry and a can of H20cean. A dude I know was shocked I paid so much money. He only paid $20 to have one nipple done, but a few weeks later he had to take it out because it was pierced crookedly and infected. A more expensive piercing doesn't necessarily mean a better piercing, but folks you usually get what you pay for). I had been to the shop a few times to scope out jewelry and the staff was always super nice, and willing to go out of their way to help.

I popped up mid-afternoon and talked to Lance, the piercer. He copied my ID and I filled out all the forms and we went to the back room so he could scope out my nipples and suggest jewelry. He said anything would be fine and I decided on a pair of 10g CBRs. I think larger gauges are more aesthetically pleasing and knew that they had a lower chance of migration - something I definitely wanted to avoid.

I was super nervous but Lance was excellent at calming me down. He washed up, gloved up, and set up. I'll admit that for a few minutes it was strange to be topless in front of a complete stranger who was staring intently at my nipples, but he was incredibly professional and told me I had great skin. Yes, I am that shallow that a compliment made me feel better - but being that he's examined many more naked girlie bits than I have, of course I wondered! He marked me up, and remarked it three times before we were both convinced that all dots were perfect and sufficiently dotty.

He clamped me, which was not at all uncomfortable, and busted out the needle. I was surprised by the length of the needle - it was my first piercing and all the experiences I had read had remarked on the size of the needle. As silly as it seems I expected some 10 inch needle. It was just a few inches long and I breathed a soon-to-be-proved-wrong sigh of relief.

He pushed the needle through slowly and I could feel a pop-pop-pop from the bevels. I was completely shocked at how much it hurt. It wasn't exceptionally painful, just surprisingly painful. I asked him to let me have a breather before he continued on. He told me a few funny stories and then popped in the jewelry, which I didn't even feel. I wanted to hear a few more stories because I had heard that the second one was more painful and was nervous. It was the same and once the last pop popped the pain was gone, it was just the pop-pop-pop that hurt. He cleaned me up, recommended Dial, and handed me a can of H2Ocean.

For the first two days my nipples bled a bit; for the first two weeks they were very crusty and sore to the touch. I didn't use Dial at all - I believe that the less stuff you stick in a piercing the better. I used the H2Ocean three times a day and for the first few days did salt soaks but I felt that the H20cean worked just as well so for the rest of my healing I only used that.

After a month I could sleep without a bra and my nipples could be banged up a bit without hurting. It's been two months and I still get a little bit crusty but it's no biggie. I use H20cean sometimes in the morning when it's really bad but mostly I leave them alone. They only hurt if I snag them on something or if a crustie gets on the inside of the piercing.

Perks of Nipple Piercings: I love the way they look. I always liked my tits but now I *love* them even more. My nipples are incredibly sensitive to the touch (it hasn't been long enough for any oral foreplay, but I imagine it'll be the same). Only a few folks have seen them, but they all think they look good, too.

Drawbacks of Nipple Piercings: I live with mod-unfriendly parents, so I always have to wear a bra now, which is something I rarely did before. But they haven't noticed and I doubt they will ever know.

I'm very happy with my nipple piercings, although sometimes I wonder if maybe I should have gone for an 8 gauge instead. I doubt I'll stretch them when they heal, though. They are the most time-consuming mod I've had in regards to healing (I also have 00g lobes and a tattoo). If anyone is thinking about this piercing I say go for it, but be aware that it's going to take up a bit of your time and inhibit your lifestyle a bit (my piercer recommended that I stay away from swimming, oral foreplay, and the like for three months).
