Let me tell you a story of a young girl, who has always loved the look of pierced nipples and never had the opportunity to get them till one day luck smiled at her. Now get ready this is a sad story that I hope no one has to experience so listen hard and learn the lesson of my story.

I came to college from a very small town in the Bible belt that just screams repression, and one of the first things I did was pierce my belly button, my addiction started right there and then. Addiction is such an ugly thing. But some of you might agree piercing is an expensive one. So when I heard about a special for nipple piercing get them pierced in the front window of Sachs (my local piercer) facing the street and who ever the hell wanted to watch and the piercing and the jewelry is completely 100% free. I knew I was gonna do it.

I went on the first day, and was #50 in line the guy (Fingers) who did them is a good guy though he hadn't worked on me before. But I knew him from around the shop. And I had checked out his work before hand (very important thing to do, I've seen way too many badly placed piercings on campus to trust just any one). Okay so any way I climb up into the window, after waiting an hour because of the huge line and the time that it takes to sterilize between customers. Fingers is completely professional, chatty and quick he did he best to put me at ease. Though I must say that the 15 people (3 of them really dirty old men) kind of made me nervous, as did the cops handing out the citations for indecent exposure (I didn't get one thank god). But any way if you want to get a piercing and you can't afford it you gotta do what you gotta do. Now I'm not going to tell you that it didn't hurt like a mother (because it did) but it was worth it, a quick flash of pain is something that I will swap pretty nipples any day.

Things went well at first I was diligent in cleaning them, however I had forgotten that I have extremely sensitive skin and the antibacterial soap I was using was really chafing the nipples. Now I don't heal all that well so my first thought was don't mess with something like this go ask the pro about this. Well then stupid pride intervened and I decided that knew what I was doing (mistake number one). So instead of consulting Fingers or Joe (the two piercers who I commonly see and talk to) I decided to stop cleaning them except with water thinking I was safe since I'd had them for about a month(mistake number 2). So I did my best and changed my bra every day (neat trick since I think I own three at the most), I showered twice a day to try to keep them clean without the aid of the harsh soap.

Things went well for a while then the unthinkable started to happen every time I started to clean my right nipple ring it would bleed and hurt like no tomorrow and occationally when I woke up in the morning there would be dried puss and blood.

Now can any one guess what all of these things add up to. That's right every body; rejection. The worst thing that can happen to a piercing. Not willing to give up I waited and fought with my own body. Though I must say I did watch with morbid fascination as the flesh over the CBR slowly died and peeled away revealing a little more of the ring every day. Till the CBR was halfway through the nipple then I sadly took it out. The left soon followed suit.

And though I love nipple piercing and think they look really hot on just about any one, I don't have them. So words to the wise, if you have trouble with sensitive skin or anything else for that matter, talk to your piercer, don't let your pride get in the way. Don't try to go it alone. Their time for simple consultations should be free and it could save you a bunch of money. Hopefully this story will convince some little over confident kid (like me) to go in and get help with their piercing problems. I should of and I didn't and now that has cost me eighty five dollars American since that's how much it will cost me to get them pierced again. And this time you can bet I will go in every day and have a professional wash them if that's what it takes.
