This is my second piercing, and I still love the whole experience. My first was a tongue web, the experience for that is also on BME.

Previously I had ignored nipple piercings, I didn't really think they were 'me', if you know what I mean. However I explored them on BME and soon enough I fell in love with them, and I came to think that they could be 'me' if I wanted them to. While I'm pretty new to the scene, I think that's a big part of what body modification is to me. So soon enough I had decided to get my left nipple pierced. I figured that at a later date, presuming I liked it, I could get my right one pierced to match.
So on a Wednesday, when I only have 2 lessons in the morning, me and my girlfriend headed into Birmingham on the train. At about 3 I mooched up to the Pro Pierce desk in Oasis to get my piercing, but disaster! I was told that the piercer who did male nipples (the same guy who did my tongue web) was on a day off, so they recommended somewhere else for me to go. I went and tried to find this place, but I didn't really like the idea of going somewhere I didn't know, and I always feel comfortable in Oasis. So me and Lucy gave up on the other studio (we couldn't find it anyway) and had some lunch, during which I decided I'd wait and come back next week. We went back to Pro Pierce to ask whether the piercer would be there next week, but to my horror they told me he has every Wednesday off now. Wednesday is the only day I can get into Birmingham seeing as I work all weekend. I explained this to them and lucky lucky me they took pity on me. Apparently the piercer was coming in at 5 to say hi and check everything was ok, and they said that if I came around then they'd persuade him to quickly do it for me.
So 5 came around and I was back at Pro Pierce, and sure enough the guy who did my tongue web showed up. I filled in the usual forms, after telling him I wanted a barbell. To have a ring would be £3 less, but I went for a barbell A) because I think they look better and B) it'd be less likely to catch while it was healing. I figured if I wanted a ring I could buy one later.
So after a brief wait I went into one of the two immaculate little rooms where the piercing takes place, and took my t-shirt off. He marked where he was going to pierce on my and asked me to lie down. "I can see your heart going! Don't worry, I will freeze it you know!" I like Pro Pierce because they know hoe to make you feel more comfortable. He sprayed my nipple for a while with the freezing spray, and I lay my head back and closed my eyes. I'm not a wuss exactly, but I was expecting it to hurt loads and I didn't want to watch incase I jumped and screwed up the alignment. What surprised me was that I felt the needle going through (with a fair amount of force I must say), and yet I felt no pain. I looked down and there was the needle sticking though my nipple, which was an odd sight to say the least. "Wow, tough nipple" he said, which got me laughing. He then pulled the needle back though and at the same time slid the bar in. He screwed the ball on and that was it. I grabb ed my shirt and left. That's when it hurt. Oh boy did it hurt, it just starting aching and stinging at the same time. Nasty, and it didn't stop for a long time. However, it was bearable, and it was worth it. I got home and my girlfriend and me admired it for ages.
All in all I'd say that the pain is passing and the piercing is great. It took quite awhile to heal, about 2 months. The only disaster I've had with it was loosing one end of the barbell down the sink and having to wear a plaster over it until I could get into Birmingham to buy a new one. Other then that its been pretty problem free, although it still leaks puss from time to time. I would definitely recommend this piercing to anyone, especially those who need something discreet for whatever reason. Also, I would definitely recommend Pro Pierce in The Oasis, they're great!
