When It just happened
Studio Asylum

A little over a year ago, I decided that I wanted to get my nipples pierced. At that time I was a cheerleader and only 16yrs old. December of 2002 rolled around and I told my friend Heather that I wanted to get them pierced. I was afraid she would think I was crazy but I really didn't care. She told me that it sounds awesome and would take me as soon as I was 18 and cheerleading was over.

I turned 18 on Sunday and my last match was yesterday, so today was the big day. Last Friday I had already begun to get butterflies in my stomach. I had decided to go to a studio about a half-hour away from my house. I called them to get some info and found out they had moved. I was really disappointed, I thought I was never going to get them pierced. I went to school and heard a girl in the hallway talking about getting her nip pierced over the weekend at a new shop in town. After school I asked her some questions and she told me it was $25 from the waist up, that did it for me. I told Heather where it was and we made our plans.

Today after school I got my things together, Heather picked me up, and we went to Asylum. We drove past the front of the store and it didn't look like a place I wanted to get pierced... white walls with flash art on them and no furniture! I knew if I didn't get them done tonight I would be mad when I got home, so we found a parking spot and went in. I talked to the piercer, I think his name was Sean, but I'm not sure, I was too anxious to think. I told him this was my first body piercing and I was expecting it to feel like childbirth because of the stories I had read (not that I know what childbirth feels like). He told me it wouldn't be that bad (not that HE knows what it feels like either). He had only been in Greenville since last Tuesday and that's why there was no furniture in the waiting room. He also said he had to finish a tattoo and there would be a half-hour wait. A half-hour turned in to an hour and 20 minutes. I didn't mind the wait, the longer I sat, the m ore comfortable I was with my surroundings.

Sean (?) came out and told me it was time. I got up and signed the forms, he checked my id, and told me to follow him. We went into a room with a weird looking chair and bed. He had me take my shirt and bra off and play with my nipples until they were hard. While he was preparing the tools, he talked to me and I was very comfortable with him. He told me he has been piercing for 11 years. He got out the CBR's and measured my nipples. He decided that 16g 7/16 would be best. He answered all my questions, marked my left one, and had me lay down. He put the clamp on and I didn't even feel it. He told me to breathe in, out, in, hold it, and when I exhaled he would insert the needle. I did all the breathing and felt nothing... I thought he had forgotten to push, but he hadn't. I looked down and there was a needle stuck through my nipple. I never felt it. I got up, looked at it, and said to go ahead with the right side. I knew this one was going to hurt because I was e xpecting it not to. Sean marked me, had me lay down, the clamp was on, he pushed, and I jumped, I don't know why I jumped, it didn't hurt. The piercing ended up being crooked. He had to take it out and start over on that side. Of course, now that my nipple was a little sore from the first poke, the second one did hurt. He put the jewelry in, gave me aftercare instructions, and I was on my way. Both nipples bled slightly, but no more than something like a cat scratch.

I did a lot of research about piercings, like what gauge, aftercare, and read a lot of the stories on here. Almost all of them said the piercing hurt. I am amazed that mine doesn't hurt... it just feels like someone is pinching my right nipple, my left one doesn't hurt at all. I would Definitely recommend to anyone to get their nipples pierced. It was quite an experience and if mine grow out, I Will get them done again, but I hope they stay where they are. If you are in the Greenville area, go to Asylum. Don't let the open room scare you. I'm sure the furniture will be there soon!
