I had my right nipple pierced a year ago. I got over stressed, i was very tense, but the pain only lasted for less than a second. It healed very fast and did not hurt.

Besides, I have small nipples ; this made it grow bigger and much more sensitive. This is reeal fun !
Going to the beach / swimming pool with friends that don't know about it yet is always fun ! Guys usually cringe (wusses!) ; girls get all excited and ask plenty of questions... I wonder if they'll ask their boyfriends to get some piercings later...
Anyway I went to a 4 day hike in the forest with friends and no need to say in these conditions hygiene is not perfect ! I could not wash and sweated a lot. I was worrying about my piercing, but I ain't gona stop living just for that. So it got irritated, then infected. A week later it would ooze a white liquid and hurt like hell when touched. It would not heal on its own, or show any sign of wanting to get better.
I tried cleaning and caring, to no effect. Then I came up with a method that actually worked ! It is a bit extreme, but in two days it had solved my problem.
For this you'll need small canisters of salt water solution (they call these physiological serum hre) and some Betadine.
- Wash your hands.
- Wet your piercing and remove any dried white stuff from it. It is important that it be very clean, because if there is still some dried shit attached to it, it'll spread the infection. When it is clean, remove it and put it in alcohol for disinfection. While in the alcohol, rub it a little to clean it.
- Take a little canister of salt water. I used 5 ml mini bottles with a little drip-drop nozzle. Push the nozzle against an opening of your piercing and squeeze the bottle. This will expel the salt water through your piercing tunnel, washing it thoroughly. It should not hurt. Make small squeezes, 1ml at a time, and use both sides of your piercing. Between squeezes, rub your nipple between fingers to dislodge the pus.
- When you have given your piercing a good enema, and all the water has gone through, it should be clean inside, but there are still germs and it will not heal if not disinfected. So fill the canister with Betadine and repeat the process. The betadine will kill the remaining germs.
Be very careful and squeeze slowly on the little bottle. You should make the Betadine ooze slowly though your piercing at first. It will hurt like hell, then become bearable ; at this point you can send in more Betadine. Use about 2-3 ml, no need for more. Again, squeeze your nipple between your fingers each time.
- Put your ring back in (remove the alcohol first !). It will be very dry, so lubricate it with a little Betadine for easier insertion.
Throw away the canister. DO NOT REUSE IT ! These come in boxes of 24 for a reason !
I repeated this every 6 hours and in two days my piercing was like new. It is very important to repeat it every six hours. You must kill the germs faster than they develop, or else this is useless.

This method may not work for you if you have the same problem, but it worked for me, so I post it.
Please note that I am a kind of mutant for healing, when I rip some flesh off while doing some crazy sport it always heals very quickly. So it may take longer than 2 days of this for it to work, I don't know.
Also last year I had my other nipple pierced. This time the piercer did not mention that Surgical Steel contains nickel, which I am allergic to. While it was very comfortable for months, sometimes it got irritated or itching. In the end, it got real infected and I got rid of it. I'll probably get it pierced again some time.
All this may sound a little dark but I wouldn't really want to go back to no piercing ! These are really important for me and besides they are so cool for hot play !
