Hi, let me start by saying that I am not your typical piercee. I am a mother of 3 girls, married and live a normal middle class mother's life. As more and more people were getting pierced, I started to look into it. BME really interested me. Piercings and tattoos are really sexy to me now.
At A Glance Author anonymous When Six months ago Artist Todd Bertrand Studio his home Location outside LA Anyway, I decided to join in. I went originally about 2 years ago to a local piercer and had my nipples pierced in 12 gage. I really liked them and the piercer was very nice and did a good job. Unfortunately, being 45, I had to go for a mammogram and didn't know if I could keep them in. I regretably took them out and missed them terribly.
I started to look up piercing on the net and found BME. I went on chat a bit and started talking to Todd. He talked about larger gage being better, more comfortable and healing better. That made sense. I felt like getting away for a while and not being me, so I made arrangements to drive from Colorado to the LA area to see Todd and get some piercings.
I went to his house but stayed in a nearby motel. His house was really nice and his girl Ophie gave me a tour which included their different fruit trees, a pool and saying Hi! to their many dogs. Oh, did I forget to mention the 3 Prowlers!!! After a day or two in LA, we decided to do the piercings. I definately wanted my nipples done and also some genitals but the genitals will be a different story.
We did the nipples first. Todd felt them to see if there was any scar tissue from the previous piercings. He thought that they were ok and he could do a regular needle piercing and not use a scalpel. Although I have heard good things about scapeling, I was still relieved. He was going to make them 6 gage. Even though I had gone through nipple piercing before, the 6 gage needle was a bit scary. Everything Todd used was very clean and he was ready to start. I must also say that he and Ophie had been busy in the morning making up Todd's famous herbal teas so that I would have enough for my aftercare. Ophie who assisted Todd was very nice and also became the official photographer and offered support. Ok, after clamping the nipple and getting it in the right place, the needle was about to go through. It was not the same as the 12 G. but it was done quickly and the ring was put in quickly and expertly. Then it was time for the next one and yes it hurt more but again it was quick .
I got to look at them and Todd said now you have some real piercings. They looked fantastic. They did bleed a lot but that was expected. Todd put cloths with the herbal tea on each breast and that felt very soothing. I then went on to get other piercings which I will talk about at another time.
I stayed at his house for a little while to make sure I was OK and then I went back to my hotel room. A mistake that I made was not having some orange juice and a banana ready for the next morning. When I woke up, I got blood on the sheets, oops. Oh well. Then I went to get into the shower and wow, I almost fainted. I did the best I could and dressed and went down to the continental breakfast that the motel offered. I quickly downed some orange juice and a banana and felt much better. My body needed the potassium and Todd had told me that. I forgot to have some ready in my room.
I wanted to start going home that day but Todd was really against it. I said that I would just drive to Vegas which was only about 3-4 hours and then stay there over night. I stopped back at his house and loaded up on his herbal tea which I kept in big coolers that I had brought with me. He also gave me some unmade up tea to bring home. This really helped a lot with my healing and I did it religiously. Also sent home with me were, some ice packs, and an oil to put on after the soaks and a bunch of medicated soap-like containers of a liquid to use to clean the piercings. I still use it today. Everything that Todd did or told me was true. My piercings healed great. (he still wasn't happy about my driving home so soon)
I am very happy with my piercings and am planning not to take them out for my next mammogram. It would be more fun to be young and not worry about such things. If anyone my age is worrying about getting pierced, don't. I love it and am now planning to get a tattoo. We shouldn't have to miss all this fun because of our age. I have shown and told some of my friends about my piercings and yes some think I am crazy but I wonder if some envy my daring. Go for it if you want to. Thanks, Todd and Ophie!!!
