During spring break of this year I went to new york to visit my cousin. On my first day there, me and my cousin started talking about piercings, and for some reason we both thought about getting nipple piercings. I had never considered nipple piercings, and never even wanted them, none the less. Our talk turned into seriousness. With a grin on both of our faces and little giggles, I knew what I was in for. We decided we were going to get our nipples pierced. What a perfect painful bonding experience.

The next day we woke up early. We knew exactly what we were going to do. We got ready, and bundled up for the trip to china town. We decided to go to sacred tattoo. It was a reputable place that we thought would be safe to get piercings done at, especially, our delicate nipples.
We talked to the piercer. He seemed to be very professional and knew exactly what he was talking about. He put all my worries to rest. We decided to get 14 ga. barbells done horizontally. We picked out our jewlery, signed the forms, and payed him.
The piercer, Mike, asked us if it was ok for his apprentice to watch. We agreed. He talked the entire time, describing what he was doing throughout each step. Watching the piercings being done made me crinch; I could barely watch. She was two for two without a twitch of the eye. That was pretty tough.
I was next up, very nervous and antsy. Mike took his time; that put me at ease. He cleaned my nipples and then made the markings where the needle was going to go in. He gave me a mirror to make sure it was straight.
Before I knew it, he had the clamp on my left nipple, ready to pierce. Counting to three, he quickly put the needle through my left nipple. I let out a little scream. It was the worst pain I ever experienced, ever.
The second one wasn't half as bad, since I knew what to expect. he handed me a mirror and all looked well.
That was only the background of my story. What I wish I had done before I had gotten pierced was to have done more research on the piercing itself. The piercings healed fine, the only problem was that he had pierced them extremely far back. The piercings weren't even on the nipple itself, it was more resemblant of male nipple piercingS. Another thing, was that he had put barbells in that were way too small for the deepness that he had pierced me. This made the healing process even harder.
I really liked my nipple piercings, but was very unsatisfied with the placement of the barbells. Let me restate that, I liked the idea of nipple piercings. My first bet was to go to another piercer and ask them for their opinion. I went to a piercer named Wendy who had done piercings for my friends. She told me that I was definetely pierced too far back, and I needed new barbells to allow them to heal better. She told me that my piercings would be fine.
A few weeks later I was at another piercing place. I decided to ask for a second opinion. I didn't want to keep them in if I wasn't completely happy with them. The piercer I went to, Dave, told me that he had no idea why any piercer would pierce that far back, that it was ultimately my decision whether I wanted to keep them in.
I thought about it for a month and decided it was best to take them out. As much as I liked my nipple piercings, I was very unenthused about the placement. I decided to take them out, let them close up, and see how they healed. The scarring was minimal.
The truth was that I missed my piercings. The only thing was that I did not want to go through the pain all over again. Of course, it was a small price to pay to have them.
I stopped by the piercing place and talked to dave about repiercing. He told me he would have to see how my piercings had healed and then we could talk about my options. My main reason for coming in that day was to get my tongue pierced. After that, I let dave look at my nipples. He said I could definetely get them repierced and he kept saying that he still couldn't understand how any piercer would pierce that far back without consulting me first. He even said my nipples were plenty big for enough space to properly pierce them.
I decided to get them repierced. Yeah it hurt, a whole lot, but after it was over I was glad that I had gotten them repierced properly. The second times a charm.
