Ahh, birthday season again. Most material gifts just didn't suit my fancy, I wanted something that would be with me for a lot longer. My family asked me if I had any specific gift in mind, and well, I did. I informed my kindred that the one gift that truly would tickle my fancy was a nice, shiny, new pair of nipple piercings. Being the truly wonderful and accepting people that they are, my family members agreed that this would make a fine birthday gift.
Part One: The Piercing
----------------------
I had planned on having said piercings performed on the day of my birthday, but things just didn't work out. I then went into procrastination mode. It would be almost a month after my birthday before I got around to travelling down for a visit with my friendly neighborhood piercer.
It was a bright and beautiful day, a perfect day to be pierced. I arrived at the studio around 2:00 p.m., and started to chat with my piercer. As it turned out, he had a rush of visits that day, and I would have to wait 2 hours before I could be pierced. So, I went off on a short excursion to look for some pants. (side note: i didn't find any nice pants) After being out for just under 2 hours, I returned to the shop, and found to my delight, that my piercer now had the time to perform the piercings. So, I waited patiently for my jewelry to be autoclaved, and filled out the necessary waiver forms. A few minutes later, it was time for me to be pierced.
I removed my t-shirt, and sat down comfortably on the reclining dentist-type chair. My nipples were cleaned with an iodine solution, and then marked. After marking, I was surprised (pleasantly, I might add) that I was going to be pierced free-hand, that is, without the aid of clamps.
The piercing began. The first needle was held up to my nipple. A short poke was made to line the needle up. A second poke was made, pushing the needle inside my nipple. A bit painful, but this was certainly a bearable variety of pain (and the ends most certainly justifies the means). A third was then made, making sure the needle would come out in the correct direction, and the needle was guided through. Jewelry was then inserted (this stung a bit), and the first piercing was complete. The second piercing began much as the first had. An initial poke, lining the needle up. A second, pushing the needle into the nipple. This time, the second push was quite painful, much more painful than any previous piercing that I'd had, but of course, the ends justifies the means. The third short poke was made, and the needle was guided out of my nipple. Jewelry was inserted through the second piercing, which stung quite a bit more than the first, and I was done. I checked the piercings in a mirror, and proceeded to hop off the chair, and very carefully put my t-shirt back on.
Part Two: Healing
-----------------
The very next day, I woke up and began my cleaning regimen, using a soft, antibacterial soap. This soap was used almost exclusively in cleaning my piercings for the first month. After the first month, I began salt soaks, which helped to make my piercings much more comfortable.
The first few days that I spent with my new nipple piercings were quite uncomfortable. Wearing a shirt, any time I would move my torso, the piercings would rub against the shirt. This was not terribly painful, but my newly pierced nipples were very sensitive. The extreme sensitivity lasted for several weeks, after which, the feeling was not so shocking to me.
After 4 months with these piercings, they are still nicely sensitive and absolutely wonderful to have.
Conclusion: Notes etc.
----------------------
Of the piercings that I have collected, my nipple piercings offer the best new experience in terms of sensation.
If you are ever in the Calgary area, be sure to stop by Bee Cool, a wonderful shop located across the street from Chinook LRT station. They carry wonderfully made, quality jewelry, and have a wonderful, talented piercer working there.
When getting nipple piercings, try to take time off from school, work or whatever it is you may be doing, for at least a few days. Moving around can be somewhat of a hassle. Also, if you are the type of person that enjoys sleeping on your stomach (and I am), you probably will not be able to do so for at least a few weeks, so try to get used to sleeping on your back or side.
Snagging a nearly healed nipple piercing is not a pleasant experience, be very gentle until they are fully healed!
THE END.
