2 Nipples and a Tongue Piercing |
| ||||||||||||||
Body piercing has been something that I've loved since girls started getting their "second holes" in their ears around the middle school age. This affection for piercing and its decorative and expressive nature was magnified by my too-conservative parents that would not allow a simple earring let alone the next step.That's when the ever popular escape from the home-life came for me: College. I attended college in Amherst, Massachusetts, a very liberal town encompassing most to all forms of expression and the arts. Come spring semester of my freshmen year I had the top of my ear pierced with two girls getting the same procedure from my dorm floor. It was a nice start and it healed nicely with only a temporary and slight adjustment in sleeping habits.
Fall sophomore year rolled around (after a difficult summer of hiding my earring with longer hair and fishing hats) and I found myself wanting more. Unsatisfied with a simple earring and seeing others with wide arrays of pierced adornments. I thought of getting my nose pierced or maybe my lip but then the tongue entered in and stole the show. Not too many people had had it yet so finding someone to ask about it was difficult. Seemed I would have to chum up and go do it. I searched the yellow pages for studios and found "Piercing by the Bearded Lady." The name alone had grabbed my attention so I called and went the next day.
The small townhouse in Northampton was a bit intimidating but after entering and meeting Aimee (the Bearded Lady) I was put at ease and not nervous at all. Within minutes the clamps were on, needle through, and jewelry placed. It was unbelievable, I loved it from the minute I clacked my teeth bringing it in for the first time. There was certainly something in my mouth and I almost fell out of the chair in excitement.
The euphoria of that little barbell lasted for a couple months and few friends knew as I had become almost a master at hiding it (in preparation for the coming summer at home). Pretty soon, I found myself in contention for another pierce. I harbored on it for a couple weeks and came up with a nipple pierce (and due to my need for symmetry, they would both have to be done). I called up Aimee and came in the next day.
There was a girl there to get her belly button done and Aimee's studio had been changed to allow people to see conventional pierces taking place. The pierce was "simple and very easy" in Aimee's words with a small yelp and and sigh, she was done. I do like the belly button pierce on girls. There's something about a half shirt and a belly ring. Hmm.
I was next and in the transition time, a pair of girls and a mother entered behind me. They asked if they could watch my nipple procedure and my permission was based on my watching their pierces (both belly buttons).
The pierces took a few minutes to set up. Unfortunately, I haven't the best piercing nipples (pretty small). Eventually, with much labor, we were underway.
"Are you sure you want to do that," one onlooking girl asked. Oh, did I. I had been waiting a long four years of high school for just this moment.
The right nipple was first on the block. A quick rub, an entry and exit dot and the clamps were on. "Breathe in deep and exhale." Were Aimee's words and when I did, the pinch let me know it happened. I waited to look after the captive bead ring was in place and opened my eyes to my nipple and it's new friend. Man, it was wonderful and I was only halfway there. I wanted to stand up and see it already. There was a slight stinging but my adrenaline was taking care of any real pain.
Moving to the left nipple had me juggling thoughts of just getting one as it did hurt. I debated it for almost a second before motioning to the second.
The left nipple went through much easier. I couldn't explain the difference but it sure felt good. Soon I stood up and saw myself with my nips toting some rings. I couldn't leave the mirror. It was everything I wanted and it barely hurt.
I'd have to say that I couldn't have picked a better piercer that Aimee Joy at "Piercing by the Bearded Lady." She was fantastic, comical, and very professional. Thanks much to Aimee.
Years have passed and my parents have come to accept my tongue and nipple pierces. I think I will have to hold off on letting them know about my planned Prince Albert.
Till next time...
