My name is Kimberly. I am 19 years old, and live in Nova Scotia, Canada. Piercings have always been something that have caught my attention, as well as tattoos, and I have always wanted many piercings- I still do, and I am currently planning many, many more. Unfortunately, my mother wasn't so agreeable- she wouldn't even let me get my ear lobe pierced until I was 11, and she absolutely forbade me from getting any other part of my body pierced.

When I turned 16, I went to a place in Bridgewater called Skin Deep(behind her back, of course) and got two more lobe piercings, with the permission of my older sister, who is quite pierced herself (I guess you could call us a lot alike). It was only a year later that I got my first navel piercing, the top done. This was also done at Skin Deep, along with my sister and a friend. A mere month after my first navel, I was craving more. Upon questioning about which of a variety of piercing I should get, I was convinced by a friend to get my Industrial pierced. About a year after that, I got my tongue pierced at Adept Tattoos in Halifax. This trip was, at first, meant to be a nipple-piercing trip, but my sister was getting a tattoo, and my friend was getting her tongue web pierced, so I decided to keep my clothes on and opt for a tongue piercing.

Since then, which was almost 6 months ago, I have gotten no new piercings, although I did get my very first tattoo, a wolf pup on my right shoulder blade.

I was quite restless here about a month ago, and I wanted a new addition to my body, although I hadn't yet made a decision as of what I wanted. One day while attending college, me and two friends were just getting out of classes, and I made the decision that it was time for a new addition. I grabbed them by the arms and dragged them out of the building, explaining as I dragged them to my car. My first thought was that I was going to get another tattoo- after all, I only had one, and I had many piercings. We went to a place in Bridgewater called Artistic Issues- my usual piercing place, Skin Deep, had recently closed down, because the tattoo artist was moving on to bigger and better things halfway across Canada. As I was talking to the tattoo artist and piercer, Lance, about a tattoo I had been planning for a long time, I just stopped talking mid-sentence.

I had had a change of heart, and I told him that I wanted my navel pierced instead, although I already had the top- it would have to be the bottom. He discussed it with me, and I decided that I wanted it right then and there. My friends couldn't believe me- I hadn't told a single person besides them that I was getting anything else done.

I laid down comfortably and looked away from Lance as he prepared my navel- I had never been able to watch a piercing while it was happening. I felt a slight tickle as he marked the place where the needle was to enter and leave. From my experience with my first navel piercing, I thought that it was going to be quick and painless, so I wasn't at all worried as I heard him unwrap the needle. It was quick, but it was not nearly as painless as I was expecting.

When the bar was secured, I got up immediately and went to my friends, showing off my navel. I probably should have stayed on the bed for another minute at least- what I didn't remember was that we had skipped lunch to come here, so I hadn't eaten that day at all. I immediately felt dizzy, and almost fell, but luckily, Lance caught me and set me in a chair. I didn't actually pass out, but my friends told me that I looked like a drunk person who didn't know when to stop. Needless to say that they didn't let me drive back to the college- which was probably a good thing.

I think my teacher thought I had gotten drunk or something over lunch, because I was leaning back in my chair so my ugly uniform didn't hurt my new piercing, and I was paying no attention to her at all- I babbled out answers when she threw questions at me, but even I knew they didn't make sense, but I didn't really care- I had a huge headache, but I was ecstatic.

It was quite an experience. Every piercing I had gotten healed quite quickly, and a month later, my navel piercing is almost completely healed. I still laugh at myself when I go to Artistic Issues and Lance teases me about my near faint.
