Last time I wrote about my navel I was describing the generic and very common procedure of a standard navel piercing, one which I was still very pleased to have experienced and have in my body, however at the end of that experience I wrote about my plans about where to go from there because for me that was only the beginning, I mean start with something normal and change it until its different, how many times in our lives do we do, or wish to do that?

I had decided months ago what I wanted and I was sticking to it, two more diagonal surface barbells to create a triangle. I think the whole fascination came when I was at download festival and saw a girl with a navel triangle but the other way up if that makes sense? It looked great and I was hooked!
So today was the day and I was finally ready for my piercing, I filled in the familiar forms and watched a girl have her lip pierced and a guy get an industrial (which I loved!) then it was my turn!
The part I hate most about getting pierced is the marking up, and since I wanted mine on a diagonal it took forever and I mean forever, it had to be measured then looked at, and it looked wonky so it was rubbed out, done again, still looked wonky, Mark was persistent that it looked uneven yet I couldn't tell, he tried to blame it on me and say I have a wonky belly button!!! By this time Mark was going cross eyed he had looked at the dots for so long, but finally it was perfect.
I lay back on the table and positioned myself so I could watch from the mirror, I felt the clamp go on which I strangely enjoy the feeling of, and then I felt the first needle go through, a pinch, a pull, and out, done. The second hole was another story, the needle got stuck half way through and would not budge so Mark removed the clamp to loosen it up a bit and with a hard push it finally went through, a bit more painful then the first but yet again no more than a pinch. The first hole hadn't bled at all but the trauma from the push and the needle meant that the second hole bled a little, strangely not as much as my standard navel did which pooled up in my belly button. Finally I looked down and saw the familiar orange and white tubes sticking out of my stomach, now all that had to be done was inserting the jewellery and I was done! I chose 2 plain silver curved barbells not normal belly bars as they are too big, the balls would catch on clothes and my belly button is too small to house 3 large balls. Bef ore I knew it the bars were in and Mark was tightening the balls, it was done!
I stood up to admire my beautiful new piercing I love them!! They are perfect, not wonky at all! I thanked Mark a lot and paid (he can't accept tips he's not allowed) and skipped merrily out the door, my stomach not hurting one bit. I spent the rest of the day shopping then went home on the bus, still in no pain, then it ht me, hard! I felt so bruised! My stomach was so tender so I cleaned it gently with a tea tree and lavender solution which made it feel a little less tight and swollen. Thankfully as soon as it had started it stopped and once again it's relatively painless. I think the plaster was choking it of air a little too which made it sore because once I removed the dressing it was almost like a relief. I love how when you get a new piercing it alters you life slightly, not a lot but the little things like when I got ready for bed I usually wear shorts and a tee but the waistband of the shorts aggravated my standard navel never mind the lower ones I have now so tonight for the first time in ages I 'm just in a tee.
I absolutely love my new piercing, it was worth the push and hopefully I will be able to heal it well and not have it reject. As for what next I'm planning on a horizontal below navel surface bar just to finish it off, but maybe not for a few more months! I strongly recommend Newcastle Jewellers and Mark if you are ever in the area he is great and very very good at his job and making me a very happy girl!
