Hmm, well I guess my obsession with piercing started when I got my cartilage pierced on my thirteenth birthday. From that point on I loved everything about body piercing. I had been begging my parents to let me get my belly button done for quite some time. I had printed out tons of stories from bme and casually left then around the house, sure that my parents would finally give in and they finally did. So after making an appointment we headed over to the studio. There was this place around the corner from me where my friend got her's done. They did an awesome job and her so I expected the same for me.

On the way to the studio I was so excited. When we finally got there I was looking at all the different jewelry you could buy once your belly button was healed. There was some paperwork for my parents to fill out. They gave me a "How To Care For Your Belly Button" paper which was incredibly helpful. I learned so much by reading that sheet. It answered so many questions I had. The people that worked there were also extremely helpful. They told me everything I needed to know and they warned me about the risks that came along with my piercing (such as rejection or infection if I don't clean it properly.) I think that a friendly piercer really helps to make your piercing experience better.

Once the paperwork was all done it was time to finally do it. I went back into one of the rooms they have there. I sat down as he set up a sterile spot on the table and began opening all the tools he needed. I had no idea how many tools he needed to make one hole in my belly button. He drew dots where he would pierce me to make sure I liked where it was. Then I laid down. He put a clamp on my belly button to make sure the needle went through straight. He told me to take a deep breath in and then a deep breath out. I thought him telling me to breath was just preparing me for the horrible pain that was soon to come but while I was breathing out he pushed the needle through. I honestly did not feel a thing. It was incredible. He put a standard ring in right after I was done breathing and that was it. I could not stop looking in the mirror and I was smiling uncontrollably. It was awesome. For the next week I had to sleep on my back to avoid it hurting in the night. It has now been a little over a month since I got it done and I couldn't be happier. A belly button piercing take six to twelve months to heal so I can't change the ring until then. I have been pretty good about cleaning my belly button once or twice a day. There is the occasional day that I forgot to clean it but days like those are few and far between.

Other people have told me so many stories about the pain you get from getting your belly button pierced. Some people said they've passed out and others said the pain made then cry. I was slightly worried about how much it actually hurt but once it was done I realized how much people exaggerate stories.

The only bad thing about having my belly button is that its been yanked a few times. It's only really been yanked when I'm babysitting or when I'm in the pool with kids. I guess them not knowing why I have a piece of metal through my belly button makes them a bit curious. After it's yanked it doesn't hurt for too long so I guess it's not that bad.

Okay so my advice for anyone wanting their belly button done is to go for it. I think that if you want it bad enough you should get it done despite any of the stories people might tell you. I think that in the end it was totally worth all the effort I put in. There is only a few things I would be careful about: 1.make sure you piercer sterilizes everything ...By this I mean that everything should still be in packaging and he should be wearing gloves. 2. You need to make sure you wash your piercing everyday. Sea salt soaks help accelerate the healing process. I personally use 'bactine.' It's sold at pretty much any pharmacies and it helps prevent your belly button from being infected. I've learned to never use rubbing alcohol on your belly button. It dries it out and it's generally not good for it. 3. Always wash your hands before touching or rotating your belly button. Also make sure to avoid dirty water, which is water with sea life and water with little kids in it. This is mainly because there is so much ba cteria and your belly button might get infected from being exposed to it. But if you do happen to end up in dirty water just make sure you wash your belly button thoroughly.

So I guess that's the end of my story. I highly recommend "Intimate Body Art Studio' for everyone. The people there really know what they're doing plus the friendly service really makes your trip comfortable.
