My Side Navel Experience

So I decided pretty much on a whim that I was going to go and get my side navel pierced today: here's my story.

I made and appointment for 12.30pm, I was really excited and nervous as I thought this one was going to be the most painful to-date bearing in mind I nearly fainted over my base navel. At 12.20pm I walked into The Metal Guru in Stockton with my friend Anne-Marie, I was scared and shaking. I was told Tanya was a bit late so I could either wait for Tanya or get pierced by Mark, I choose to wait for about 15 minutes then Tanya arrived. Note: this has absolutely nothing to do with Marks professional ability just my personal preference. I was handed a consent from by Sarah filled that out and messed it up by saying Date of Birth: 21/02/06 instead of 21/02/90 which made me laugh.

Tanya re-appeared from the shop and set about collecting her supplies, needle, forceps jewellery selection, marker, all which had been sterilized. I was asked to choose a barbell for my piercing I picked a pretty blue/green one as I have a blue-ish theme going on with my navel piercings. I was lead back into the room I still call the "torture chamber" (I've mentioned this in a previous experience) Note: this is not a torture chamber but a piercing room.

I pulled up my top so that Tanya had easy access to my navel. Tanya then cleaned my navel and got ready to mark. After asking did I want it piercing at an angle or did I want it straight we tried out placements. I decided on the angle placement so that when I complete my project it will look circular. Tanya changed gloves and asked me to lie on the bench, she looked at the marks she had made and decided they were off. I stood back up again and she re-marked them.

I lay back down on the bench but I was really nervous and felt ill because of the effect my base navel had on me. Tanya spoke to me for a minute to check I was ok then she placed the clamps on the side of my navel, these didn't actually hurt half as much as I had expected them too. I lay on the bench shaking for about 5 minutes then told Tanya I was "ready to be skewered" she commented on the fact that it shouldn't hurt too much and it wouldn't feel like I was getting skewered either even after she said this I was ready to run a mile, I have a bit of a phobia about my stomach.

I was finally ready for the needle of doom. I asked Tanya to show me the needle which was a cute little thing. Just a baby I thought how can that thing possibly inflict any pain on me. I gave Tanya the go ahead and was told "big deep breath in" the needle was aligned with the dots "big deep breath out" I felt some pressure and a sting as the needle penetrated my skin, the needle was through my skin. I felt another slight pressure as the jewellery was inserted. I was really shocked at the fact there was no pain in the procedure just pressure and a slight sting but nothing anywhere near as traumatic as my previous experience with navel piercings.

After the jewellery was inserted I laughed. Tanya placed a plaster type thing over my latest addition. I thanked Tanya and went out to the reception area to pay.

Anne-Marie was laughing at the huge smile that was spread across my face, I felt floaty and light but not dizzy this was a nice happy high. I paid Tanya and was handed my after-care sheet which to be honest I can recall perfectly but the fact they'd filled another one out for me re-enforced the fact that they are a really super studio.

I left the studio and saw Mark stood out-side getting some air whilst it was quiet I spoke to him for a few minutes and told him it was virtually painless. I skipped down the little alley laughing and smiling at the 10th beautiful piercing I had gained from Tanya's expertise.

Less than a week later I bought the same colour bar for my standard navel as I have in my base and side navel so now my navel projects well under way. I plan on getting another lower side navel, 2 higher and a surface bar horizontally underneath my navel.

I'm proud of the fact that I have survived yet another modification. They will be many more to come, so raise your metal to the beautiful world of body modification and all the beauty in brings.
