Well I am 15. I have always been fascinated with body piercing. I have 7 ear piercing and a cartilage done twice. I have pierced my ears a lot; but have always had them re-done professionally. I wanted my belly button pierced!

On my sports team, all of the older girls seemed to have them. And almost all got them done when they were 14 or 15.
Needless to say, my parents weren't to thrilled about me getting my belly button pierced. The said it was 'a sexual piercing'. My mom had hers done about 12 years ago and the person she had was new and halfway through the piercing they had to get the manager to finish it. It took many weeks of begging and arguing; but they finally gave in! I later learned that one of the reasons why was because she talked to a girl that I knows mother. The girl is 12 and she has her belly button pierced, unfair.
At first my parents wanted me to wait for my birthday which is in October. But I reminded them that if that were to happen; I would have to take it out for sports competitions; which could cause it to close up or get infected. They agreed so we set the date. I was planning to get it done the day right after school ended for summer. Yet, I convinced them to let me get it done a week earlier so I would be able to show all my school friends. My best friend was supposed to come with me, but she couldn't make it because it was a school day.
So on May 25, 2006, I went into school late so I could get my navel pierced. My Mom took me to Ink Link and I told the man what I wanted and he told me I would have to wait 15 minutes for someone to sterilize the station. I wasn't too nervous until I started signing the forms the gave me. And of course my mom had to be sitting there snapping pictures and watching me get nervous. But now I look at those pictures and wonder why I was so nervous.
After I finished filling everything out; a very cute guy named Eddie told me to fallow him. I went into a blue room filled with posters and he turned loud music on [My Favorite]. He asked if i had any questions and he put blue dots on my navel. He told me to lay down on a chair and it laid back.
By that time I was really nervous; so I was holding my mom's hand. I saw the guy unwrap the needle. He didn't use a clamp and I was happy about that. He said take deep breath and as I was exhaling i just felt a little pressure. It just felt like an ear piercing, just on your stomach. He asked if I was OK and I said I was fine. He said to take another deep breath and I did. When I exhaled he slid the ring into place.
After I had very little pain and that night I went to sports practice. Although, I was bleeding a tiny bit. Now i clean it with H2Ocean, which is purified ocean salt water.
A few weeks later I went with my best friend, Brittani, to get hers done. She said she didn't even feel it.
Now I'm much more comfortable wearing bathing suits because I feel that the attention is on my belly button and not my stomach area. I also love how when I wear a tight shirt the top bar sticks through, letting everyone know that I have my navel pierced. It isn't just about how it looks. When I look at it I think of it as a mile stone that I accomplished. I am so happy I went through with it because I know there are people that didn't believe I would go through with it. I like to throw it back in their faces. Most of my friends are envious of me because their parents won't let them get theirs pierced.
I would do it all again in a heartbeat; and I'm looking into getting my inverse done! I would recommend it to anyone who is thinking about it. It was a great experience! Make sure you guys clean your piercing; I know someone that got a nasty infection and they had to take theirs out and now they have scar tissue and she can't get it pierced again!! Good Luck All; and have a fun piercing experience!
