Ok, so I'd wanted my belly button pierced for a while, but I never really asked my parents if I could. One day my friend Ashleigh had her nipple pierced (she has 13 piercings all together.) I decided I wanted something (besides my ears) pierced, and seeing I'd always loved navel piercing I chose that.
At A Glance Author Khloe Contact future_wimbledon_champion@hotmail.com When It just happened Artist Kim Studio The Body Piercing Place Location Perth City (Australia) It was quite an epic finding a place, I was all set to go to "The body piercing place" in Malaga (my friend had recommended it) but when we got there the place had moved to osbourne park, so we tried "The body piercing place" in Scarborough. This place had closed down, or something. So then we ended up driving all the way to the city. All the while, I was completely freaking out because I am so scared of needles and any kind of pain.
We found the shop and went inside, the place was extremely clean. A lady named Kim asked us if we needed any help. So I told her I'd like my navel pierced, she said sure and asked me to pick a barbell. I chose one with pretty green jewels at the top and bottom. Then I handed over $50 (Australian), which was cheaper, then all of my friend's ones. Anyway she took me to the back room. (my mum didn't want to come, and my dad had wandered off somewhere, so it was just me) In the back room I filled out a small form, she didn't need my mum to sign anything, which I thought was weird but anyway. So then the procedure began.
Firstly she asked me to tuck my top into my bra, she was surprised to see my belly button was very small and thought she'd have to use a smaller bar, but after some inspection she thought she'd be able to do it with the original one (this was making me even more nervous.) She then put some stuff on my stomach, I'm not sure what, and marked my belly button. Next came the clamps, now all my friends say that the clamps hurt the most, but to be perfectly honest they didn't hurt me one bit, they just felt very weird. Some people say they only hurt if you're skinny, but I'm very athletic and skinny so yeah? Who knows) I then needed to lie down on the table/chair thing. I closed my eyes and all of a sudden I felt the needle going through, it stung but it didn't hurt too much and It was all over very quickly. Kim was great, she talked to me and tried to take my mind of it. Then when the needle popped through, she had to leave it sitting there for a bit, that felt very strange, but I refused to look down because I knew I'd faint. She put the jewellery in and screwed on the ball. She then asked if I was ok to sit up, I did very slowly. She got my mum to come in and she explained the after care.
This is when I began to feel a bit light-headed, which turned into extreme light-headedness, Kim told me to lay back down, so I did, and then I fainted. I wasn't out for very long only a couple seconds, and I think it was because I just realized I'd had a needle shoved through me and my body kinda got weirded out. When I came to Kim gave me some water, and I ate some jellybeans. She gave me a piece of paper with all caring for my piercing advice.
When we got home it stung a little bit, but that went away after I had a shower and cleaned it like I had been told to. That night it didn't affect me at all, I was just a bit conscious of knocking it in my sleep. Next day (or yesterday) I went and played tennis believe it or not. I had to, it was a team competition, it couldn't serve properly but otherwise it was fine. Today it's fine doesn't hurt except if it gets knocked, it's faintly bruised around the top hole but I think that's normal?
It was soooo good getting it done, and even though you have to clean it I believe it's definitely worth it. It's good also because my mum and dad didn't believe I'd go through with it because they both know I'm a wuss of pain and needles, so it was nice to prove them both wrong.
I can't wait to change it, there are such pretty barbells out there! I don't know why but I love just the simple ones like my green one, I'll probably buy more of those than dangly ones.
Anyway I really love it, and to anybody considering getting it done I say go for it! Just don't attempt to do it yourself; you may think it wont go wrong but there's a great chance it could!
