I had gotten my belly button pierced when I was 16. It was what I wanted all my life. I was not sure if it would look good or not. I knew a lot of people that had it done and they said that it didn't hurt. I am afraid of needles, so I really didn't think that I would go and get it done. This was a present to me for Easter and I didn't want anything else.

So he took me in and I was so scared that I almost chickened out of it. So I finally went in to the studio at Mickey's and told them that I wanted to get my belly button pierced. I had to look and see what I wanted to get it pierced with. I just went for the bar bell. I picked out a color that I liked the most and went for that one. Of course that color that I picked out was a blue color and it stuck out to me the most.
I sat in the waiting room looking at tattoos and they had pictures of people who had gotten piercing done there. It seemed like I was waiting there for hours. I forget what the woman's name was but she was really nice. She came out and asked if I was ready and I kind of started to say no but I knew since I was there just to get it done and over with, so I said yes.
She took me back to the room and told me to lie down on the chair. She told me what she was going to do and she showed me that the materials were sterilized and that there was nothing to worry about. I thought to myself yeah right this is going to hurt real badly. She did not know how bad I was afraid to get it done but I bet she has seen so many other people like me afraid to get it done and chicken out at the last second.
She marked it out and then I had to look and see if it was where I wanted it to be. When I saw the needle I thought that I was going to pass out but I did not. She took the clamp and put it on my belly button. I told my dad to hold my hand because I was so afraid. She told me to take a deep breath and let it out, so I did. The she took the needle and pushed it right through. I saw her take the bar bell and place it through the opening of the needle and the ball was tightened and that was the end of it. It only hurt for a few seconds and it was sore after that. I am so glad that I had worn sweet pants to get it done or it would have been rubbing on it. I took a look at it and I knew that it was the right choice that I made.
After it was all done she gave me directions on how to keep it clean and I was told not to play with it because it could get infected. I did think that once it was infected but I kept on cleaning it 3 to 4 times a day with sea salt water. I had seen dried up white stuff around my piercing but I looked in my book that she had given me and it said that it was just the healing process. After a few weeks the soreness started to go away. I had showed all of my friends and they were surprised that I had gotten it done. I started to put new jewelry in it. I just love the way that it looks.
I had to be careful of what I was doing because I did not want it to get ripped out. I knew someone that had theirs ripped out and they said that it bled like crazy.
It's been two years now and I have had no problems with my piercing. The next time that I want anything else pierced or tattooed, I am going to go to Mickey's because I know that they are sterilized and the cleanest place.
I recommend to anyone who wants to get their belly button pierced to get it down and do not chicken out like I almost did. It did costs a lot but you now it was worth the money and the stress that I had went through that day.
The next thing that I will probably get done will be a tattoo or even getting my lip pierced.
