I've always thought belly piercing looked cute but I had never actually thought about having one. A lot of people I knew had it done and I thought it looked really neat so I decided I'd get one done too. At first I didn't really think about it seriously but then I thought why not? So I asked my Mom and Dad. Obviously at first they said no, but soon gave in. So I started doing my research....This is really important and I strongly recommend it to anyone who is thinking about having their belly pierced, bemzine is great, just anywhere where you get a wide range of experiences and opinions. if you go to the wrong place, it can turn out pretty nasty. I read a lot on the internet and asked a lot of people – personal experiences is one of the best ways to decide which studio you are going to use. I eventually decided to go to Blue Banana in Cardiff as several of my friends had got theirs done there.
At A Glance Author cat Contact cat@bme.anon When Three months ago Artist Len Studio Blue Banana Location Cardiff, Wales At first I went with my older sister but they wouldn't let me have it done without a parent or legal guardian there so in the end my dad had to take me. It was really kind of him because he absolutely hates needles! We were in the car on the way to the studio and I was doing ok, a little nervous (to be expected!)but fine. We got to the shop and went to the back where the piercing section of the shop was. We asked a man about belly piercing and he asked us some questions (my age, was dad actually my dad, allergies etc) and then gave us a form to fill in and sign. They were very professional. Then he gave me a selection of belly bars to choose from. He told me that the plasma gold ones were more expensive but would heal sooner. It was quite reasonable, considering the bar and the impeccable standards of the studio- £30. I picked out a plasma gold bar with blue stones and then I had to sit and wait my turn. That was probably the worst part because you get yourself all worked up.
Anyway, my turn came soon, and I was feeling ok-mainly because the girls before me in the queue said that belly button piercing don't hurt at all. So I went into the piercing room and Len (the piercer) cleaned my belly button and marked out where he was going to put the needle. When he was happy with it, I lay down on this dentist-type chair and just stared at the ceiling. First he put this freezing spray on, it really was freezing! But I didn't feel a thing because of it. He put the clamp on, that was the only uncomfortable part. It wasn't painful at all, just a mild discomfort. Then I felt the tiniest pinch and all done!
I looked down at my belly and instantly loved it, it was gorgeous! Then he put this plaster on and went through the after-care. I had to wash it with a sea salt and water solution twice a day and not fiddle with it too much! He also advised me that after you get it done, you should drink or eat something with quite a high sugar content (i.e coke, lemonade or something) to keep your blood sugar levels up and stop you getting faint though I never did.
That evening I took the plaster, he told me to leave it on for at lease four hours, off and there was hardly any blood- not what I was expecting! I cleaned it religiously for the next month, except I stopped using the tea tree oil soon after my piercing because I found I was irritating the piercing and the skin surrounding. I had heard of this happening to other people also. Do not use any kind of acidic substances that will irritate the wound.
It's been about two months now and I can change the bars whenever I like. You can buy some really great ones online! It looks fabulous and I love it, I'm very glad I got it done and if you are someone who is thinking about it but not sure I say go for it!! You will not regret it afterwards, I promise it does not hurt. I absolutely recommend Blue Banana to anyone living in the South Wales area, the staff and standards are great. Everything is kept clean and sterile-that's another really important thing...don't be afraid to walk out of a studio if you don't think it clean or if they won't answer ALL your questions. Keep looking until you find the right one.....don't just use the first one you walk past.
